VH1’s “Daytime Divas” gave us more mystery and more drama this week than usual. Guest star Janet Mock, playing herself, brought Heather’s trans child storyline to the forefront; something that I’ve wanted since the pilot. We also saw the reveal of Maxine and William’s relationship to the public. All the while mister detective has been snooping around.Ea ch week we break down this show by the storylines that each “diva” faces. Let’s do this! We will start with the head honco…

Maxine Robinson

Maxine (Vanessa Williams) starts off the episode going to visit Detective Stagliano (Jason Davis) and assures him that there is nothing out of the ordinary with her late husband’s death. But, oh there is a lot out of the ordinary! We learn this week that not only were Maxine and William (Norm Lewis) together the night of the murder, but Shawn (McKinley Freeman) may have been more involved. It seems the night of the incident Shawn was furious at Ted for losing a ton of his money. How? We don’t know that just yet.

This week we also saw the public reveal of Maxine and William’s relationship as mentioned earlier. This comes not only on the heels of the detective’s questioning, but also because of William’s mother, Gloria (Patti LaBelle), comes into town and sees that something is off about the relationship between the two. She soon figured out that they are together and ultimately pesters Maxine so much that she reveals it on air. Yay! Now this couple may get to be happy publicly as well!

Heather Flynn-Kellogg

Heather (Fiona Gubelmann) had a big episode this week where she learned a lot about being trans and that her daughter (Brad Jr. a/k/a Ella) is going to have a tough time, but she will need Heather as a support system. Heather learns all of this from guest co-host, Janet Mock, who she is enamore but doesn’t reveal the reasoning behind it all to her fellow ladies until the very end. She revealed the truth after an on air bombardment of questions for Janet and an accidental slip of calling herself a real girl and insinuating that Janet is not. She is truly sorry about that and explains the situation to the ladies.

We also see her loosen up on the rules for Ella and lets her become a little more public. This storyline is so important and I’m so glad we had a whole episode to explore it.

Nina Sandoval

Nina (Camille Guaty) and Shawn are still at odds because of her truth about to Pulitzer. Their relationship is strained and they talk about custody lawyers and Nina isn’t even done with her first trimester. Luckily, this issue gets resolved by the end of the episode.

We also deal with a crazed fan who is obsessed with Nina, assuming they are “friends,” tweeting her non-stop and even going as far as to sneak past security and trap Nina in an elevator with him to explain to her that he wants to be heard not blocked. Thankfully, they get Nina out of this situation and the stalker gets the help he needs and deserves.

Kibby Ainsley

Kibby (Chloe Bridges) and Heather are still clashing over the Julian thing. Both are taking jabs at each other at work behind the scenes. This matter gets resolved once Heather reveals the Ella secret to the ladies.

We also get introduced to a storyline about a former “Lacey from Outerspacey” who gets booked on the show. Kibby is freaking out about it and calls him and tells him to cancel. I think this man may have raped her while she was underage and working on the child’s show.

We get to actually meet him next week, which looks AMAZING! Plus, Mo (Tichina Arnold) is back! Join us for a new episode to catch some CRAZY drama when “Daytime Divas” airs on VH1 on Monday at 10/9c!
