Charlie (Masie Richardson-Sellers) and Gary (Adam Tsekhman) are in John’s (Matt Ryan) house waiting for him to come back after agreeing to meet with Natalie (Alice Hunter), Astra’s ghostly mother. As Gary gets inpatient, he decided to open the door. This provokes the ghost and releasing her into the house.

On the Waverider Ava (Jes Macallan) is getting ready to take a shower when girlfriend Sara (Caity Lotz) turns up asking if she would take over as Captain of the Waverider for a couple of days as Sara says she has business to take care of in Star City. Ava originally says no, explaining that she’s still struggling to become a Legend and finding her place on the ship, but Sara manages to convince her. While they are talking, Zari (Tala Ashe) is outside the door listening in before quickly running away on her phone.

Meanwhile, back in Hell, Astra (Olivia Swann) is playing a game of Poker before a fellow Demon confronts her about her work. He says she is failing as ruler as all the encores she’s released have been captured by the Legends. She pulls a coin necklace from her neck which is engraved with John’s name and says it time she plays dirty.

Back in John’s house he, Gary and Charlie are trying to find Natalie’s ghost. Charlie asks what he did to make her so angry and he begins to explain the story of how she died. She got hit by a car and her husband begged him to bring her back. John then goes on to talk about the night Astra got dragged to hell as Natalie begins to throw things around the room, as the word “liar” appears on the wall. We then see a flashback to the night Astra got taken and John explains that Natalie couldn’t live without Astra, so she killed herself in the room they’re currently standing in. This is why she is now a ghost.

On the Waverider Behrad (Shayan Sobhian) is giving Zari a tour. Ava walks in and asks why she is still here. Zari says she decided to stick around. Ava agrees that she can stay, after Zari tells her it would be uncool not to let her stay, but she isn’t allowed to come on missions because she’s a civilian and will get in the way.

Elsewhere on the ship Ray (Brandon Routh) is talking to girlfriend and fairy godmother Nora (Courtney Ford) via a video link. Nora is telling Ray how she is enjoying helping families that are in need. Mick (Dominic Purcell) walks in and shouts at Ray to get out. In a panic Ray says goodbye and tells Nora he loves her. Nora smiles as Ray apologizes and says it just came out. Nora says she loves him too and then hangs up as Ava calls everyone for a meeting.

As the Legends meet up Ava explains that she wants to do a program that she created when she worked at the time bureau called A.L.O.H.A. (assess, listen, observe, hydrate and attack). She hands each of them a folder full of information about it, but they are all very uninterested. Nate (Nick Zano) asks if there is a threat to the timeline and Ava says no so they all start to leave. Ava quickly asks Gideon (Amy Louise Pemberton) if there is any threats and it appears there is in Paris, 1793 and the aftermath leads to the collapse of the French Revolution.

The Legends get dressed up in their appropriate outfits, along with Zari who is fully embracing her French look. Ava says Zari isn’t allowed to come because they don’t have time to babysit her when they have an encore to catch, but Nate agrees to keep an eye on her.

The Legends go to Versailles 1973 and Ava warns that executions were common. They see a party happening but the guard refuses to let them go inside. Zari tells the Legends that she will be able to get them in due to her “celebrity status.” She manages to bluff the guard saying that she’s royalty. In the main room, most of the guests are peasants drinking and partying, but there are no executions.

In hell Astra goes to the shop of the Coin Maker (Sarah Strange) who has acquired Constantine’s coin. The coin gives the power of holding someone’s life. When she asks what Astra wants for it Astra says that she wants to kill him.

At Versailles Ava warns that appearances can be deceiving and they need to find the encore. Zari tells her that she’s trying too hard. As Nate walks around with Zari he says that something definitely feels off because many of the nobles were decapitated. Napoleon (Kazz Leskard) is drinking and getting freaky when he should be invading foreign countries.

Ray spots Marie Antoinette (also played by Courtney Ford) and realizes that she looks like Nora. Nate joins him and figures that Marie is an encore. Behrad is drinking and Zari points out that he doesn’t drink. As Behrad walks away, surprised, Zari agrees with Ava that something is wrong.

The guards wheel out a guillotine and Marie announces that it’s time. Ava figures the guillotine is magical and tells the other Legends that Marie is going to make her move. The blade comes down… cutting up a cake. Marie yells for the peasants to eat cake and they do.

Ray and Nate eat cake and a man comes up and hits on Zari. The man collapses. Zari and Ava realize that the man and other people are partying themselves to death. Ava figures that Marie is killing the peasants because they executed her for spending money partying and figures that Marie’s power is charmed. Ray, Nate and Behrad are all enthralled. Ava tells Zari that she’s on the team because they’re the only two not affected. When Ava says that they have to get Marie out, Zari figures the best way to get a celebrity away from a party is to make her think there’s a cooler one somewhere else. First, she tells Ava that she needs to get a better dress and leads her away.

Past images of Natalie (Thea Highwarden) and Constantine (Knox Hamilton) appear briefly, kissing, and Gary realizes that they were loves. More images appear of Natalie warning the young Constantine that he has to stop before she loses him. She wants the two of them to go and tells young Constantine to choose between magic or her. When he doesn’t, Natalie curses him and leaves.

Furious, the present Constantine says that he’s had enough and tells Natalie to get out of his memories. Charlie tells him that he has to face up to his past and says that his lies have trapped them there. Natalie possesses Charlie and greets Constantine.

Zari and the newly redressed Ava return to the party. Zari approaches Napoleon and pretends to know him, getting past his guards. She then tells Ava to display confidence and shoves her at Marie. They laugh and drink. Marie says that she doesn’t know Ava and asks why she’s there. Ava starts to go, but when she sees Zari she winces, turns and says that she’s going to the after-party. Intrigued, Marie asks where it is and Ava says that she can take her but not tell her. As they go, Ava tells the other Legends that she’s taking Marie to the Waverider. They figure that means more party for them.

Napoleon notices Marie leaving and she tells him that there’s an after-party. The guests hear her and go with them. Ava and Zari run off with Marie. When the guards come after them, Ava fights them. As Zari leads Marie off, Marie bumps into a pillar and her head falls off. Nate catches it and Marie yells for her body. Ray picks it up and the Legends flee to the Waverider. Marie complains about how the party stinks. Ava covers the head over with a cloth after strapping down the body. Ray and Nate take the head to the library. Behrad compliments Zari on becoming a superhero. Zari doesn’t want a cowl, but she does want a dress for the party. Ava gives her permission to access the fabricator.

Natalie asks Constantine why he brought her back and Constantine claims that he loved her. Charlie shapeshifts into Natalie and demands the truth. Constantine says that he brought her back to prove that he was right to choose magic over them. Natalie thanks him for his honesty and says that Constantine needs to save Astra because of her instead of his ego…and she thinks she’s found a way to save her daughter.

Marie calls Zari into the library and asks where her party is located. Zari refuses to help her and Marie talks about how people assumed she was a spoiled brat but was instead just a lonely Viennese girl trying to fit into French society. Zari sympathizes with her and Marie says that the secret isn’t to let the party end. Intrigued, Zari has Gideon reveal part of her future. In a news report from 2045 a reporter says that Zari is facing backlash from her fans after her scent destroys users’ sense of smell. A shocked Zari figures that she can take Marie’s perfume. When Marie refuses, Zari realizes that the perfume is the source of Marie’s charm. She gags Marie’s mouth and gets the perfume from Marie’s purse. As Zari leaves, the body breaks free from its restraining straps.

Zari goes to the launch party in New York City and her assistant Les-Lay (Melanie Rose Wilson) gives her the bottle for the photoshoot. Taking out the new bottle of perfume, Zari starts to head to the red carpet giving herself one spritz of the perfume.

Behrad is having Ava taste his dish and Ray comes in to say that Zari stole Marie’s perfume. Ava realizes that she and Zari weren’t affected at the party because of Zari’s perfume, which killed their senses of smell. As Ava, Behrad, Ray and Nate leave they hear something crashing around and go to investigate. They discover that Marie’s body has escaped.

At the launch party Zari comes out with DJ S’more Money (Ryan Bell) [her boyfriend] and poses for the cameras. Under the influence of the perfume the model proposes to Zari on the spot. He accidentally spills the perfume all over her and everyone warms her. Zari starts to run and the people chase after her.

Ray and Mick find Marie’s body slamming into walls. Mick wants to blast it, but Ray says that it’s a harmless body. The body attacks Ray, and Mick manages to knock it off. When he tries to shoot it, Ray struggles with him and Mick drops his fire gun and the body grabs it and starts shooting at them.

Ava, Nate, and Behrad arrive in NYC and find the crowd going wild over Zari. Ava sprays Nate, Behrad, and herself with Zari’s Dragonesque perfume to kill their smell and protect them from the perfume.

As the three of them try to hold of the never-ending crowd of people from chasing Zari Ava figures there are too many people to stop, and says that she has an idea to get the perfume off of Zari.

Behrad uses the air totem to hold the crowd off, but there are too many. Ava tells Zari that they never leave a Legend behind and has Zari jump into the nearby fountain with her. The water washes off the perfume and everyone is freed from the charm smell.

Ava and the others teleport back to Waverider, just as Mick and Ray attack Marie and tackle the body.

Zari is reading a story on her phone about how her reputation was ruined. Behrad brings her dry clothing and Zari apologizes for ruining the mission. Her brother isn’t interested and takes her to get doughnuts. The rest of the Legends are eating in the mess room. Sara calls to ask how the mission went. The others say that Ava killed it and they got the encore.

Zari goes to the library and eats her doughnut and has memories of the Zari in the original timeline eating doughnuts. Ava comes in and asks Zari if she’s okay. Zari points out that Ava let her off the hook. Ava assures her that she didn’t kill anyone, unlike Marie, and she feels like she’s screwing up all the time. Zari says that she was just being herself and not caring what people think of her. She admits that she’s forgotten who she really is. She says that she has millions of followers but no friends and Ava tells her that she has one and offers her hand.

Back in Hell the Coin Maker says that in ten years the lung cancer will catch up to Constantine. Astra asks if the Coin Maker can make it zero years. The Coin Maker replies that she has a few enemies of her own and one day she’s going to call on Astra to do her a favor. Astra agrees and the Coin Maker goes to work on several cogs from the Loom.

Constantine is still with Gary and Charlie at his home talking as he begins to cough. Charlie asks if she is okay and he says he is fine as he walks away. Suddenly, he starts to cough up blood and then collapses to the ground. The Coin Maker was able to fast-forward on Constantine’s life span, bringing the lung cancer to him now and killing him as Astra wished.
