Q) Please tell us the story behind your new song “Delilah.”

A) Delilah is this girl in The Bible who seduced a man into telling him the secret source of his super-strength. And then she stabs him in the back and betrays him to his enemies. I saw a TikTok where this girl was saying that most men would never put up with what a lot of women put up with. And at the same time, I had multiple friends of mine leaving extremely abusive relationships with men taking advantage of their physical power. And my friends still had empathy toward these horrendous men and felt guilty leaving them. I wanted to write them a song that said – he would hurt you. He has hurt you. Don’t feel bad hurting his feelings by doing what’s best for you. You’re worthy of being protected even if it “hurts his feelings.” He has done way worse to you and not ever thought twice about it.

Q) Talk about the songwriting process for this track.

A) I created it with a producer named Nydge. It was in our first session together. He creates almost all his sounds from scratch and usually makes a more organic style, so I was curious to see what would happen if we worked together. And we ended up finding this really cool vibe that feels unique from everyone else. “Delilah” is industrial dark-pop, inspired by a weird mix of Sia, Trent Reznor and The Weeknd. I knew I wanted a huge pop hook but verses and a drop that were uniquely me, which I think we pulled off.

Q) What is it about this song that you think makes it the perfect Summer 2023 jam?

A) I like this song for every season. So, for me it’s great all year round.

Q) You’ve told us before that you are heavily involved in the production process of your music. How much of a say did you have with “Delilah?”

A) Nydge is great because I can take my hands off the wheel a little more than usual. I wrote the song. But production-wise he’s fantastic, so I prefer seeing his ideas before I give mine. I already know what I would do. I like to see what he would do. In my opinion he’s basically a genius so I really trust the process.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes. Two planned at the moment and in process.

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Aurora. And I’ve been listening to a lot of Phonk. I usually listen to songs on repeat until I hate them. Same with movies. Food. Everything.

Q) We love seeing you perform live. What are some of your favorite songs that you still love to do live?

A) Thank you so much. Playing live is still so new to me for this show so it’s all really fun. And I really love my dancers. They help me so much with feeling confident and powerful. We just added a new song yesterday to the set that I’m really excited about and I’ll be performing July 12th at The Roxy in LA. It’s a song that’s not out yet that I also did with Nydge and it translated so well to stage that I knew I had to perform it even though it’s not out yet.

Q) Who would you love to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Russ. I love his brain.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) You help me be brave every day and I’m really grateful for that. I don’t feel entitled to success or anyone liking my shit, so it really means a lot when someone has something
