Interviews
Eva Carlton – The Really Loud House
By: Jennifer Vintzileos
Q) What was your audition like for the role of Leni Loud on “The Really Loud House?”
A) My first audition was a self-tape. After getting some feedback, I then had a directors’ session followed by a chem read. All in all, I taped somewhere between six to ten auditions before booking the part!
Q) What are some ways you prepare yourself to get into character?
A) So much of Leni is based in her appearance, so simply getting into costume, hair and makeup really helps me get into character!
Q) In what ways can you relate to Leni and in what ways do you feel you are vastly different?
A) Leni and I are quite similar in that we both love fashion. I am always the friend who comes way over dressed to the function, and so is Leni. We are different in that, unfortunately, I’m not as optimistic as her. I’m also not quite as ditzy as her or as naïve, but I do love her love for the world.
Q) How would you compare your incarnation of Leni to Dora Dolphin’s incarnation from A Loud House Christmas?
A) I definitely think they’re similar, but I think mine is more flushed out. The movie was around an hour long featuring fourteen cast members, so Dora didn’t have as much material as I do to really find Leni.
Q) What do you personally consider to be your favorite moment of filming for the series and is there an episode you really enjoyed filming?
A) So far, I think my favorite episode that we filmed was the episode entitled “The Manager with a Planager.” In this episode, Leni is preparing for a big history presentation and solicits the help of Luna (Sophia Woodward). We have some fun music video parodies and raps along the way that I am really excited for everyone to see, and that were really fun to film.
Q) What do you think it is about the show “The Really Loud House” that has made it such a fast fan favorite series?
A) I think the reason so many people love “The Loud House” is because there’s so many characters so vastly different from one another. Everyone can find their character, so to speak. For instance, I do see myself a lot in Leni, but I also see myself in Lori (Lexi DiBenedetto). I also love to sing, so I can partially relate to Luna. Each viewer has their favorite sister and a personality they can really resonate with.
Q) Before landing roles on camera, you started out performing in plays and musical theater. Are there any plays or shows that you would love to work on in the future?
A) My one dream in the entire world is to be in some performance of Les Mis, which, interestingly enough, my little sister did as her high school musical this year – I was furious. I would also love to be in a movie musical!
Q) In addition to acting you are also quite a fashionista and have even designed some of your own clothing. Do you have plans to create your own fashion brand in the future?
A) While I would love to create my own fashion brand, I do believe that there are enough clothes in the world. What I would love to do is educate people on the severity of how fast fashion impacts our climate and teach others how to shop more sustainably.
Q) What would you like to say to fans and supporters of your work?
A) Mainly, just thank you. I was really scared coming into this franchise, since it was so beloved, and since I would be replacing another actress, I expected to receive a lot of hate. Everyone has been so kind to me and for that I’m truly thankful!
