Q) How would you describe your sound?

Lisa: A blend of each of our unique vocals, we all switch around and sing all different parts and all take turns singing lead. So, it is every evolving.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

Ashley:  We have been influenced by all different genres and amazing people who have come before us. Great female songwriters and singers such a Carole King and Dolly Parton. And as a band we really look up to The Eagles.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “I Feel You.” You have toured with The Bacon Brothers so what did it mean to you to have Kevin Bacon write this song?

Ashley: We adore Kevin and Michael Bacon. They were so kind and welcoming when we toured with them. We learned a lot about touring from them. Kevin wrote “I Feel You” about missing his wife when he’s on the road. We heard him play it live one night and fell in love with it and could most definitely relate to the lyrics. When we asked Kevin if we could record it, he was so gracious and wanted us to “make it our own.” We then asked Michael Bacon to put his amazing cello skills on the track and it made the song complete magic.

Q) You also have the single “Ghost” out. What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

Andrea: Nicole and I co-wrote the song after I had played fiddle on the Opry the night before. I had posted a picture from the night with the comment “even the ghosts are singing tonight…” and Nicole encouraged that to be the title we started. The songwriting process really made me think of all of the musical heroes that have come before me, and how we should honor them through this song. I think fans can relate to the magic that melodies, lyrics and our musical heroes add to our lives through song.

Q) You were named among Rolling Stone’s “New Artists You Need To Know.” How did that make you feel?

Lisa: It is quite an honor. We all are fans of Rolling Stone. It also is encouraging to think all of our hard work through the years is starting to pay off.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

Nicole: We create the music and lyrics pretty simultaneously. A lot of time there will be a title or idea thrown around and then Ashley or I will start on chords with a guitar or piano and then we all start singing and creating lyrics around it.

Ashley: sometimes it even starts somewhere like an airplane or in the car, without any instruments.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

Andrea: We co-produced the entire new EP as a band, so that was really special for us. We all put a little taste of our individual styles and personalities into each song and it made a perfect blend to that represents Farewell Angelina as a whole.

Q) You’re on the Women & Wine Tour. What can fans expect from a live Farewell Angela performance?

Nicole: A lot of energy. Fiddles, vocals, fun! We love creating moments on stage that are unique to each performance, giving the audience a once in a lifetime performance from each show.

Q) What songs off your Women and Wine EP are you looking forward to performing live?

Ashley: We love playing “Women & Wine” live because we play a little drinking game with the audience… you can maybe guess how it goes over. [smiles]

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

Andrea: We create music FOR the listeners and the fans. We want them to be able to relate to our lyrics and make our songs apart of their everyday lives.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

Lisa: I think we all can agree the best places to perform are where the crowd is ready to have a great time with us and create those unforgettable moments.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

All: Keith Urban

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

Ashley: We are loving the new Maren Morris album. She is bringing some serious girl power and amazing support to female artists across the genre. It’s pretty inspiring.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

Ashley: It’s a direct line to the people that matter most, our fans. We can communicate in real time with people near and far. We have fans overseas that we have never met that social media has introduced us to. It’s also fun for us to meet fans at a show and then keep in touch through social media.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

All: Thank you and we love you. Our Farewell Family is everything! We are so lucky!
