Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Country with some Rock influence!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I listened to everything growing up! Some of my biggest artist influences are Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Ingrid Andress and Carrie Underwood. Some of my biggest songwriting influences are Nicolle Galyon and Shane McAnally!

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “I Forgot to Fall in Love.”

A) I found myself in a relationship where I realized he was in a lot deeper than I was. This was the song I wrote as I was trying to work through that situation. Sometimes it’s just as hard to break a heart as it is to have your heart broken.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) We’ve all had a relationship that was more one sided. A lot of times it’s unintentional and it’s hard to navigate. I tried to be as honest as I could about my feelings. This song is relatable because of that.

Q) You’ve been writing songs since you were fourteen years old. What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My song writing process has always been whatever strikes first. A lot of times that means lyrics come before music for me personally, but sometimes if I’m writing with a really good musician they will come in with a cool guitar/piano part or melody idea and we will go off of that. Songwriting is different every single time. That’s why I love it!

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I always go into pre-production meetings with a general idea and vibe that I want, how I want the track to build, as well as an idea of how I want the vocals to sit.  Producers are creatives as well though, so while I have the framework idea, I love to let them go where the music takes them as well. A lot of times the best stuff comes out of them getting to be creative with it!

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I’m not sure right now! At some point I of course want to put an EP and/or album out, but right now singles seem to make more sense.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) There is a venue in Birmingham, AL called WorkPlay. It’s where I did some of my first gigs. I also love several places in Nashville where I’ve played writer’s rounds and also met some of my best friends.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) An artist I would love to collaborate with is Ingrid Andress. A songwriter I would love to get in the room with is Nicolle Galyon.

Q) What advice would you offer up and coming songwriters?

A) Just keep writing. You have to write a lot of bad songs before you can write a good one.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media breaks down every obstacle you might face when trying to connect with someone. i.e. distance, time zones, etc. It allows you to connect with people you never could have imagined through similar interests!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) THANK YOU! And for those yet to come, I can’t wait to be friends!
