Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Real story telling with a beat that you can dance to! Basically, we’ll all be crying in the club. [laughs]

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Lauryn Hill had a huge impact on me growing up, the rawness of her lyrics and her melodic cadences definitely inspire me in my writing

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Ever Really Know.”

A) I wrote it when I was going through a hard time in my relationship. It was so all over the place. I was questioning if the person I fell in love with was who I thought they were. The day I wrote it I didn’t really have a concept. It was honestly just a spill of every emotion I was feeling. This song was so personal to me that I had to keep it for myself.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I get a lot of fans thanking me for inspiring them, which makes my day! I think in such a heavily filtered world, being authentic is the best way to connect with people so if I can help someone in any way get though a tough time by telling my story, I’m in!

Q) The video was beautifully directed by Mariah Winter. How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) Yes, she’s amazing. I’m so happy with how it turned out! I think the video is open to be interpreted in different ways but, for me, I felt like the car was my mind and the hands signified all of my emotions trying to reel me back in.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It all depends. Sometimes if I have something that I really feel I need to get off my chest I’ll start with a concept, but the majority of the time if I’m inspired by chords the melodies flow so easily for me and lyrics will follow.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I don’t personally play any of the music or produce, but I’m very involved in creating and finishing the song. If there’s a certain sound or chord I hear, I’ll contribute in that way.

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

A) Yes! I’m currently working on my EP.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Georgia Ku performance?

A) Live instruments for sure! Although I write my songs to have emotional depth, I want to make sure I bring good energy! I love being on stage but I see my shows as a chance for my fans to relate to me. [smiles]

Q) You’ve written songs for a number of artists and sang a bit on tracks for other artists as well. Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I love collaborating with my friends, people who I have good chemistry with. I would love to mix things up and collaborate with other females or different genres; I’m excited to hopefully release more songs I’ve been writing with Martin Garrix.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m a sucker for the oldies. I often listen to Mumford & Sons Babel – I love it when songs take you back to a certain time in your life & the nostalgia kicks in!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) There’s a lot of things about social media I don’t like, but being able to receive the loveliest messages and share my reality is important to me. I don’t want to connect through a phone screen by just showing the “glam: side of my life/career. There’s so much more to it, including living in nothing but sweats, no makeup and sometimes having really bad days… I think that’s where we can connect the most!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) THANK YOU!!! I’m forever grateful that I get to do what I love every day. I will always strive to be myself and keep growing. I hope to be a role model and set an example for future generations. Thank you for showing love and putting the biggest smile on my face! [smiles]
