Finally addressing the elephant in the room, Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) brings up the steamy dalliance between her and Trevor (Asher Grodman) around Christmas. While Trevor would prefer to continue their fun, Hetty squashes the thought and prefers to move on. Although Trevor tries to placate Hetty and act amenable to her decision, his lack of pants gives away the truth.

Meanwhile, Woodstone is flush with guests this weekend due to the Ulster County Jam Band Festival in town. Flower (Sheila Carrasco) explains the concept of a jam band to Hetty as her knowledge of this genre of music is limited. However, Hetty turns her attention to Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) singing their praises for Freddie (Mike Lane) and his upgrades to their booking system and security. Jay leaves while Sam continues to talk with Freddie. Hetty sees an opportunity to utilize her prior experience with workers and attempts to convince Sam to stop providing empathy and positive feedback to Woodstone’s newest employee. While Hetty tries to discourage the conversation, Sam continues to learn more about Freddie and in particular…the issues with his girlfriend.

Out in Freddie’s car Jessica (Nicole Sakura) and Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) take the time to learn more about one another. Jessica shares about her love of French fries and Sasappis turns on the charm. They share a kiss before Freddie enters the car to take him and Jessica home.

The next day Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), Trevor, Pete (Richie Moriarty), and Hetty have a front row seat to Freddie airing his girlfriend grievances to Sam over a Brita pitcher. Sam goes to offer advice but is interrupted by Hetty. Sam claims to be hungry and Freddie heads to the kitchen to make her a snack. With Freddie distracted, Hetty continues to discourage Sam from getting personal with Freddie. But despite Hetty’s best efforts and threats of cutting off her inheritance, Sam tells Freddie to talk to his girlfriend.

In the kitchen Flower, Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long), and Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) grill Sasappis about his time with Jessica. Sasappis talks about kissing Jessica and hearing about her stories on the road. Unfortunately, Alberta sees this as a chance to talk about her own dalliances on the road and sows seeds of doubt and insecurity in Sasappis and his new relationship.

The next day at Woodstone Sam and Jay are greeted by a rather downtrodden Freddie. In taking Sam’s advice, the argument over the Brita escalated and Freddie’s girlfriend broke up with him. Hetty takes the opportunity to gloat while Jay believes that Same may have broken Freddie.

In the car, Sasappis asks Jessica about Freddie’s place and learns about a ghost named Roger that frequents the residence of Freddie’s ex-girlfriend. While Jessica talks away and tells Sasappis all about Roger, the doubt creeps in more. And even though he is uncomfortable, Sasappis forges on to listen.

Inside Sam and Jay try to settle a heartbroken Freddie. As Trevor and Isaac decide to follow Freddie around for the drama, Hetty reminds Sam that she needs to put the kindness aside and crack down on Freddie. When Sam refuses, Hetty approaches Trevor and asks him for help in pushing Sam to snap.

Back in the car Jessica is now sad that Freddie and his girlfriend have broken up….leading to no more interactions with Roger. Sasappis is pleased to hear this until he learns about Chad, a ghost that Jessica sees when Freddie visits his mom. Sasappis can’t take any more talk about the guys and snaps at Jessica, who calls him jealous and throws him out of the car.

Inside Woodstone Hetty and Trevor’s plan starts to come into play as new guests arrive to check into the Maple Suite, which is already booked by guests attending the festival. Sam and Jay immediately pull Freddie away from his collage-making to find out what happened to the system. As Freddie laments about his breakup amidst the chaos, Sam finally cracks and lays into Freddie in front of the guests…much to Hetty’s delight. Unfortunately, this prompts Freddie to quit and leave.

Later on that day Sam and Jay attempt to figure out what happened. Luckily, it is Jay who notices that Freddie’s booking system was tampered with after work hours. With this information, Trevor rats out Hetty and her plan. Believing that Freddie’s dressing down was well deserved, she leaves the room.

In their shared room Pete finds Sasappis and talks with him about Jessica. Pete listens to Sasappis talk about his jealousy and offers advice. While Sasappis may be wary, Pete tells him to trust Jessica.

Hetty decides to find Sam, who is still angry over the whole situation. They were able to convince Freddie to return and had to calm angry guests, but Sam wants to know why Hetty did what she did. Reflecting on her own past and shortcomings, Hetty talks about her own inability to parent from beyond the grave. And with being unable to help generations of Woodstones until Sam came along, Hetty seized her opportunity. Sam shares her own issues with her mother’s advice, leading her to always do the opposite. Sam and Hetty come to an understanding, even bonding over Sam feeling good about yelling at Freddie.

As Sasappis reconciles with Jessica outside, Freddie is inside and grateful to be back to work. He is still baffled as to how things were changed in the off hours. Sam and Jay walk away while Freddie checks the security footage where he notices the keys on the computer typing on their own.
