Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) Here at Good Kid co. we play fast-paced indie rock with influences from J-rock and pop punk.

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

They change all the time, and we could never agree as a band. [smiles] The bands that have come up frequently are The Strokes, Kana-Boon and Panic! At The Disco.

Q) Tell us the story behind “No Time to Explain.”

A) Our vocalist and lyricist, Nick [Frosst], loves routines. His life is very structured – rehearsals twice a week, fiddle night at the same pub every Sunday, etc. When the pandemic hit, and he met his new girlfriend – it was a lot of change all at once and he was very excited but also kind of scared. So, this song is about facing uncertainty.

Q) You also recently released a music video for “No Time to Explain.” How did you come up with the concept for the music video?

A) The idea came from the director, Ryan Brough (@zeebramedia). Since the song is about dealing with change, a timelapse felt appropriate and we thought it would be fun to do something that required us to change out of our clothes every frame!

Q) Since its release, what has been the overall reaction from fans and listeners to the song?

We just finished a US tour and an England Tour and it’s amazing to see fans sing every word to “No Time to Explain,” so shortly after its release! The response has been very heartwarming!

Q) With the release of “No Time to Explain,” is there a full-length album in the works and if so, what can fans expect from the new album?

A) 👀🤐

Q) What message do you hope fans take away from “No Time to Explain?”

A) The message is loud and clear: Good Kid is running for president. Vote for Good Kid.

Q) Since the release of “No Time to Explain” the band went on tour through the U.S. and currently have shows in the U.K. Where are some of your personal favorite places to perform?

A) We are yet to play in a city we did not enjoy visiting! If I had to name a highlight – the LA show was really special. It was the largest venue we’ve ever headlined in (Lodge Room), and the show was completely sold out. The venue made us a really beautiful custom cake with a design of the album art from one of our songs.

Q) Which song is your favorite to perform live?

A) We’ve been ending our set with the song “Aloe Lite” – it has a massive ending and we’ve been encouraging the crowd to belt it with us. “Alchemist” is also super fun to play live. It’s the song where the entire band gets so hype, we jump the entire time! Favorites change all the time, but these two songs are definitely etched into the setlist for eternity!

Q) If you could collaborate with anyone on a new project, who would it be and why?

A) We have this dream of making an anime music video with Megumi Ishitani, who is an incredible Anime director. Our guitar player Jacob [Tsafatinos] is a MASSIVE One Piece fan and especially loves the episode Megumi made.

Q) What are you currently listening to?

A) We just played a show with Dutch Criminal Record – they are SUCH a good band!!! Can’t stop playing their tunes!

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) At one of our shows, someone came up to us and told us we are their second favorite band. We are honored to be anyone’s second favorite band! Or third! We’ll take anything!
