Gunnar Gehl – Outta My Mind

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would say my sound is pop / pop rock

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My main musical influence was John Mayer growing up.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Outta My Mind.”

A) “Outta My Mind” is about finding a person who just gets you. It’s about this girl being different from everyone else in the best ways. It’s so perfect it makes me think I’m out of my mind.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the song just has a “feel good” element to it. It’s also easy to pick up the lyrics to and sing along.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics? 

A) Songwriting for me almost always starts with music first, then melody and then lyrics, which usually come from trying a bunch of random lyrics singing to the melody.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music? 

A) I have a ton of hand on the production. I like to be a part of every process in my songs. The producers will take all my ideas while I’m there, but every producer likes to get their own tune with the song.

Q) You’re out on the PRETTYMUCH US tour. What can fans expect from a live Gunnar Gehl performance?

A) Fans would expect a ton of energy from me live. I just vibe to music and have fun and entertain.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) I hope so! I think we’re really stacking up some good songs right now.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you? 

A) From tour, my top three favorite venues were Atlanta, Chicago and Toronto simply because they were so loud and had so much energy. As the performer I feed off the crowds energy, so a good crowd makes an even greater show.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I think a collab with Dua Lipa would be really sick or Calvin Harris or marshmello.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them? 

A) Currently into Benny Blanco’s new release. I love it because it’s all different artists on the tracks and it’s just a solid group of good songs.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is everything for a lot of artists today. It’s the easiest way to show fans who you really are, show them your appreciation for them and talk to them!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like to say to my fans that I absolutely adore you guys. Couldn’t do this without your amazing love and support; so lucky❤️
