Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would say my music is campy, pop and rock.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My biggest influences are Hope Sandoval and Lana Del Rey.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “rain rain go away.”

A) When we first started working with Rhyan Besco, I wanted to do something a little different from what people see me as on social media every day. I think people are used to seeing me as the “California girl next door,” so I wanted my first song to be different from that, and to show people that I can be many different things.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The song is about a girl who wants to run away from all her problems, and I felt like that was very relatable because I think we all feel that sometimes.

Q) The video is epic! I love The Lost Boys theme to it. How does the video play into the message behind the song?

A) The story behind the video is actually quite funny. When we decided that we wanted to release the song, we realized that we had to film the music video in the rain, as the song is called “rain rain go away.” As most of you know, I live in California where it never rains. So, we looked at the weather and saw that it was going to rain the very next day. So, we scrambled and stayed up all night planning it out. I called my two friends Presley and J, and we shot the next day in the rain.

Q) Rhyan Besco wrote “rain rain go away,” but for you what is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I am currently in the process of learning how to write music, but usually I’ll have an idea based on iconic movie scenes that I love. I tune into a feeling and get ideas and bounce off of that. Sometimes I will also write down notes, words and feelings I have and use them too.

Q) How much of a say do you have when it comes to the production side of your music?

A) I’m working with Maya K. who is executive producing my entire first album. She is in charge of bringing in different producers who she thinks are a good fit for me and then we all get together in studio sessions and create music together. Maya understands my vision and I love working with her.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) There may or not be an album coming next year… [winks]

Q) With new music out, are there any plans for an upcoming tour?

A) Not at this moment, but hopefully sometime in the near future.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Lana Del Rey.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s the quickest and easiest way to connect with them.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of the music you make?

A) Thank you so much for always supporting me. I appreciate you guys so much! [smiles]
