ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” is heating up more and more each week. Episode three was no different. This episode was dynamic and very balanced. We got pretty equal screen time for each storyline, not to mention more mystery and intrigue in the flash forward than the previous week. Let’s dive into “It’s for the Greater Good” below to get you ready for tonight’s episode.

We begin where we left off last episode with Laurel (Karla Souza) running after Michaela (Aja Naomi King) when she refuses to compromise her new internship in order to get intel on Mr. Castillo & his dealings in the Wes murder. Michaela wants no part in whatever Laurel is planning. At least for now.

We then jump to Annalise (Viola Davis) who has taken a part time job as a public defender to get back in the good graces of the bar association and to help clean up her image. Her first case is the appeal trial of Ben Carter (Rene Moran), a face tattooed gangsta that got falsely accused of pushing his baby mama out of a window. He has spent twelve years locked up because the previous jury judged his look and the system wronged him by giving him a public defender (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) that didn’t thoroughly go through the evidence. Annalise destroys both her and Nate (Billy Brown) on the stand during this new trial. She wins the case after a tape of a video from an ATM across from the apartment showing that the victim jumped of her own free will. In fact, this tape mysteriously appears at Keating’s apartment. With help from Frank (Charlie Weber), they find out that the woman who hired her (a/k/a Ben’s previous defender) to be the culprit.

Over in Keating Four land, Connor (Jack Falahee) up and quits school. This prompts Asher (Matt McGorry), Laurel and boyfriend Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) to pull an intervention with Michaela and Frank’s help. Sadly, this doesn’t work – that is until later in the episode when Connor’s fathers show up. Yes, it appears Connor comes from a gay couple!

We get a little side story this episode with Bonnie (Liza Weil) and Nate, who team up to try and ruin Annalise’s latest case so they can win over the D.A.’s office and prove they aren’t on team Keating anymore. They try and use Oliver and his new IT company, but remain unsuccessful after the whole video debacle. Bonnie also gets a new intern in the form of Laurel, who (of course) is there to get info on her father and Wes’s murder.

This leads us to Michaela who was hard pressed at first to help Laurel and jeopardize her opportunities at this new law firm. She changes her mind though after winning a quiz bowl against Simon Drake (Behzad Dabu) using a clue from talking to Laurel earlier when discussing her father. This prompts her take Laurel up on her offer and help destroy Mr. Castillo.

All of which bubbles up to the flash forward which shows us Michaela on the “night of the missing baby.” Dr. Isaac (Jimmy Smits) finds her outside the hospital nursery covered in blood hysterical about losing him. I assume she’s talking about Laurel’s baby, but knowing this show it could be anything.

WHERE IS ANNALISE ON “THE NIGHT OF THE MISSING BABY?” DO MICHAELA AND LAUREL GET CLOSE TO THE TRUTH? DID MR. CASTILLO HAVE HIS GRANDCHILD KILLED?

These questions and more will be answered hopefully this season on ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder,” which airs Thursdays at 10/9c.
