Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) As for my sound, I would describe it as a blend of R&B, Pop and House. I’ve been influenced by Janet Jackson, especially in regards to her showmanship, and the eccentric artistry of Prince. My new single “Hotblooded” is an anthem about being true to oneself, and feeling free to live authentically. Hopefully, my fans will connect to the song and feel understood regarding their struggles!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) The creating process; personally, comes easily! When I create, I’m pouring pieces of myself onto the track; like reading from a diary. I’m a part of the creation process from start to finish, I love to know the in’s and out’s of my songs including the production, mixing and mastering. The full album RebelFuturism will be released Spring 2021. Please check out my Instagram for more information @iamrebelwillofficial.

Q) We’ve seen you open for Jacquees. What can fans expect from a live IAMREBELWILL performance?

A) I’m an eccentric, charismatic artist therefore any space is a performance space; I could perform in a coffee house or Staples Center. I carry my music within me and it’s always ready to come out.

Q) With our current climate, have you given any thought to live streaming some performances?

A) Given the current climate, safety is key. I want my fans to be able to enjoy the show and not feel uncomfortable. Therefore, I’ve moved to online interactive performances. Both myself and my team are watching the COVID-19 development closely. I want to take this moment to thank our essential and frontline workers for getting us through this tragic and difficult time.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with a lot of artists. I respect so many of them, but if I had to single out one particular artist it would be Ciara. I appreciate her artistry, her passion and dedication. I would love to be a part of any of her projects, especially a music video! The choreography would be intense and exciting.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I can appreciate all types of music and I adore discovering new artists; currently on rotation is Billie Eilish! I find her authenticity refreshing and bold. I’m also listening to Anderson.Pak. The messages in his music are alluring and his artistry is exciting.

Q) What advice do you have for up and coming musicians?

A) An open letter to new artists is firstly listen to your instincts. Don’t be afraid of your talent and take that leap. This industry can be difficult to navigate, but you are the master of your fate and the captain of your future. I wish you all the best of luck! Break a leg.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is an amazing tool. I feel like you can engage with your fans and it feels personal. I primarily use Instagram to provide release information, performance dates and, of course, connect with my fans. Hit me up on IG. I would love to hear from you guys

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Firstly, I would like to thank all of my fans who have either supported me throughout the years and to those who have just discovered me. It’s been a wild ride that never would have started without each and every one of you! You’ve contributed to the artist I am today and I do all of this for you!
