It’s 2021 & Rebecca Black is Still Looking Forward to The Weekend

The remix, produced by Dylan Brady of 100 gecs, is buoyed by vocal features from the worldwide ambassador of Bounce music, Big Freedia, who expressed “yasss!” when asked to participate in the track; pop music agitator Dorian Electra, who featured Black on their 2020 release “Edgelord,” and honored her in their lyrics, “[a song that] defined an era, and changed the music industry;” alongside house party favorites 3OH!3. “Friday” remix debuts today with a nostalgic visual ode to the original, featuring all featured artists — WATCH HERE

“Friday has this accidental campiness that was a part of making it what it was, and through the years, camp has been something I’ve only further tried to embrace.” The video, directed by Weston Allen [100 gecs, 3OH!3, Dorian Electra] adds further campiness: reimagining her status in the 2010s zeitgeist juxtaposed through a hypnotic, futuristic universe which sees Black’s iconic car shot matured into a technicolor drag race between herself and Dorian Electra, with the track’s new Gold plaque in the front passenger seat.
