Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound an early 2000’s meets the modern-day dance scene. My sound is meant to keep you on your feet and dancing whether you’re out on the town with your friends, singing in the Uber on your way or dancing in your bathroom while getting ready.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) For “Roll The Dice” I was heavily influenced by the cinematic synth songs of the 1980s and how every track kept the momentum going from start to finish. Greats like Bonnie Tyler and Pat Benatar influenced me, as well as “Poison” by Alice Cooper and “Separate Ways” by Journey.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Roll The Dice.”

A) The concept of the song revolved heavily around one particular relationship I experienced in my life. We went on dates for a bit and after a while it wasn’t working out the way I hoped, and I ended it. He didn’t take too well to the rejection and still holds a grudge against me still to this day. During the lockdown of 2020 I just started writing a song about how silly it is for him to be upset when he knew exactly who I was and what he was getting into when he wanted to be with me.

Q) This is your sixth release! Did this track challenge you with the writing process in any way?

A) The concept came easy to me because it was sort of a taunt back to the guy. I had written a chorus and a concept and sent it over to my writing partner Violet Grae. From there she collaborated with my producer AJ Afterparty and took all of my ideas and concepts and perfectly crafted them into a piece of music I am immensely proud of.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The feeling of validation. The feeling of power over yourself and those around you. “Roll The Dice” is for everyone out there who doesn’t let other people make them feel bad about not wanting to be with someone. It takes the power back. It’s okay to meet people and have fun without the obligation to take it further. This song is an anthem for “had my fun and won’t apologize” because you knew the odds when it began, and you decided to move forward anyway.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The message of the video plays heavily into the independence aspect of the song. The strong individual who holds power in the game of love and knows how to use it.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I’ve done both. With this song I sat down on my balcony with my keyboard and played around with melodies until I found one that I liked and put lyrics to it. With my song “Full Moon” I had the music first and was driving home from an appointment one day and voice recorded the full song as it came to me on the drive. Other times (like my song “6th Sense”) I’ll be brushing my teeth and the lyrics will pop into my head and I’ll have to run and put them down in my notes on my iPhone.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am super specific in what I’m looking forward and what I want. I will send paragraphs on paragraphs of every song that even slightly resembles what I’m looking for with timestamps of drums or bass or specific feelings I like in them. I’m very detailed because I want to make sure everything that I hear in my head can be felt by my producer as well.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Definitely keep an eye out for the future.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Orlando, Florida is #1. I was born and raised there so performing with my entire support system of friends and family watching me is surreal. It’s also the birthplace of most 90s/early 2000s pop which play a heavy influence in my music as well. It’s a full circle moment.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) The Pussycat Dolls. Everything they bring to the table from vocals to dance moves to video production aligns heavily with my style as well. I would love to do a music video with them and become a Pussycat Doll for a day. An all-out sexy dance number? Count me in.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to ABBA on repeat a lot lately. I love the light, upbeat melodies and euphoric feeling their songs give you especially when you listen for long periods of time. I also love Mamma Mia, so it’s a win-win music situation.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Back in the day singers could only show who they were through other peoples’ perceptions. With social media, it allows me to connect directly to those who enjoy my music and show who I chose to show the world I am through my own words and visuals, not the ideas of someone else. I can also directly talk to people and grow genuine connections, because we’re all connected through our love of music.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I feel incredibly blessed to be doing the career I’ve always loved and will continue to love with you by my side. Putting in the hard work for what you love is one thing, but putting in the hard work and having others appreciate it, validate it and say they want to be a part of the journey with you? That’s a whole other level.
