Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is always evolving. Right now, I would say it is definitely easy listening r&b pop!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Growing up I listened to a lot of Destiny’s Child, Lauryn Hill, Avril Lavigne and Stacie Orrico. They definitely inspired me to start singing. These days I really love Jhene Aiko, Teyanna Taylor, Kehlani, etc.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Perfect.”

A) “Perfect” is a quarantine love song about enjoying time with my man. Even if we are doing nothing together. I’m truly grateful for the moments that we share.

Q) “GIRLS” was written through Instagram stories. Why was it so important for you to involve your fans with this track?

A) I wanted my fans/followers to feel included in my first ever EP. Although I couldn’t get every single name in the song, it was important for me to shoutout as many as possible. They have really inspired me to keep going and to keep releasing music even when I felt like giving up.

Q) Women everywhere can relate to “XBOX.” What kind of fan reaction have you gotten to it?

A) So far “XBOX” is streaming the highest out of all three songs. I love turning a common feeling into a song for my listeners. It’s really cool to see the response!

Q) What is your songwriting process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It’s definitely always different. Some songs I start writing in shower. Then I’ll come into my home studio, find the chords and create that way. Other songs are inspired by the beat first. It really just depends.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) Every song that I have released in the past couple years I have produced, engineered, written, mixed and mastered myself. I like to wear all the hats when it comes to my music. Sometimes I’ll get the help of my roommate MVXMILLI when it comes to the 808s! He’s amazing.

Q) What are some themes you explore on your new EP Seven24?

A) I would say the main theme for this EP is the feeling of being in quarantine. It’s given me so much time to reflect and create.

Q) What songs on the EP hold a special significance to you and why?

A) All three songs are very special to me. I Would say “Perfect” and “Girls” especially. They both are about people that I love.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

A) I hope it leaves them feeling relaxed, silly and just overall puts the listener in a good mood.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I absolutely love performing in Australia. The people there are so down to earth, the food is amazing, the venues are awesome and it is sooo beautiful.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) There are so many artists I would love to collaborate it’s hard to choose. Right now, I’m going to have to say Ne-Yo! He’s such an incredible songwriter and singer.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to Jhene Aiko Chilombo album as well as Kiana Lede’s new album called KIKI! They both make me feel really good when listening. They are also both so relatable.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is so important because it’s a perfect platform for an independent artist to promote themselves. I try to engage and respond to as many of my fans as possible. They are the ones that are streaming the music and supporting everything I do.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you to the fans for all the kind messages you send. Thank you for streaming my music. Thank you for posting and reposting and for telling your friends about it. It truly pushed me to keep going!
