Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I generally describe myself as pop country. To dive deep into my songwriting style, I love how country music lyrics are put together. They tell a story. For me, it’s as if I’m writing a journal entry every time I form a song. On the other side of my writing, my rhythms and melodies always end up sounding more modern pop. I love how unique you can get with your melodies and how catchy they can become when leaning more in the direction of pop. It really has aided me in developing my own sound that’s uniquely me!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) There are SO MANY! I grew up on ’80s rock and roll. So, there’s Guns N’ Roses, Poison, Queen, etc., which I still seem to naturally pull into my music. When I started discovering music on my own, I (of course) came across Hannah Montana and Taylor Swift. They were my obsessions. Then, there was my Paramore and Simple Plan phase. For the past years though, I have been consistently loving Maren Morris, Selena Gomez and Lennon Stella, while starting to get into Charlotte Lawrence!

Q) How has life in Nashville influenced you as an artist?

A) I feel like my story is kind of weird with this. Oddly, I was sent down here to work with an artist development company. At that time, I was super pop rock. Living here in Nashville, I have absolutely fallen in love with country music. I learned from some of the greats how songs were crafted. I’ve met a lot of people in the industry and they’re always so welcoming. I got the opportunity to really dive into the world of country music and have fallen completely in love with it.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Click.”

A) “Click” is a song I wrote about that moment of meeting someone and there’s this instant attraction. But at the same time, it’s even more than that. I love the saying of how certain souls meet and they connect in a way of already knowing each other. That’s what “Click” is based upon. While this is sounding super deep, I wrote “Click” in a very happy-go-lucky way. When deciding to release this song, I wanted to give people an escape from the real world, something happy to just take their minds off of everything and have a chance to dance and sing like nobody’s watching.

Q) The song has been streamed over 239,000 times! What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) When deciding to release this song, like I said, I wanted to give people an escape from the real world and I wanted the song to really be something happy to just take their minds off of everything that is going on in the world. I feel like this song is truly doing that for people. I have become extremely grateful to be able to help people through my music.

Q) What is your songwriting process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) There are so many different ways to write songs. I find I naturally end up having an idea fall into my head and that’s what inspires me. So, it’ll either be a little lyric idea or melody. I’ll then attempt to dig at it and puzzle piece it together to see if I can create a song out of it. When I go through a little bit of writer’s block or if I’m just feeling inspired to write yet have no ideas, I’ll usually just pick up an instrument and play it to see if anything falls out of my brain!

Q) The song was produced by Zachary Manno, but how much of hand do you personally have in the production of your music?

A) I love the production part so, so much. While I’m not one to be able to whack out a badass guitar lick or anything, I love putting my ideas into it and being a part of the creative process. I think it’s really important for an artist to put their thoughts into their song’s production to help make it their own individual style.

Q) Will there be an album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I mean… I’m not going to say yes or no! [laughs] I will say that I do have something very exciting in the works that I cannot wait to tell everyone about!!!  I also have a new single coming out in September and I’m so excited to share it!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I always love performing in my hometown of Buffalo, New York. You have to give your hometown love. I grew up playing gigs a couple times a week. Whichever days I didn’t gig, I’d run off to an open mic and perform for people. Every single time I performed, I got so much love. If it wasn’t for their support, I’m not sure I would be where I am today. [smile]

Q) During COVID people can’t attend concerts. Why is it so important for you to livestream your performances?

A) Performing is one of my absolute favorite parts of this career. When I talk to the audience, I always like making them feel at home and like we’re all in my living room hanging out. When I start singing, we’ve all teleported into a stadium. [laughs] But when we’re just chit-chatting, I want everyone to feel super loved and appreciated. The best part about livestreaming is that I get to truly build a relationship with my followers. They genuinely become my family.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I always had a dream to collaborate with Big Sean. I love his features in songs. On more of the country side, Keith Urban all the way. He’s insanely talented and I feel like I could learn a lot from him. He’s also my mom’s celebrity crush so it would make her proud. [laughs]

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Currently, I just started re-listening to Taylor Swift’s Reputation album. I’ve also started getting back into my love for Marianas Trench and that’s been a great time, too!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is so important to me, honestly, for the same reason I said with livestreaming. I get to build real relationships with people. I feel like a lot of people who try out this career just want the fame, the money and people to love them. While all of that is great, for me personally, my main goal is to make other’s feel loved and important. We can all be so hard on ourselves and if I can help bring some light and love to people’s days, that is what makes me happy. Everyone following me truly brightens my life, and I want to make sure I do the same for theirs. [smiles]

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Oh, gosh, I’d definitely start with a thank you. [laughs] I don’t even know if I can express my feelings enough. You all have changed my life. You remind me to keep going. Your support drives me to never give up. I love the messages everyone sends me and I love that we actually develop friendships through it. I love you all so much. I don’t think I will ever be able to convey how much you mean to me. I hope I can do for you all that you do for me. You all have such beautiful souls and the power to make your life everything you’ve dreamed of. Know I believe in you, like you believe in me. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I’m sending you all the hugs and kisses, too. <3
