Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I always find this question tricky to answer. Authentic singer/songwriter pop…is that such a thing?

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Coldplay, Elton John, Queen… English music has influenced me massively.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “If This Is Love….”

A) I went into the studio not wanting to write another song about a girl. At the time of writing this song I was in a very happy place girl-wise! It’s actually written about my “heartbreak” in the music industry and is disguised as heartbreak with a girl. I’ve had a rough ride with past managers and sharks that roam in these muddy music waters and it was on my mind that day. I wrote this song with Benjamin Totten and Jack Hawitt who have also been let down in this industry, so we all related…The writing process was easy and real.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The song is about being let down…It’s open ended and we want people to take from it and relate. So, we didn’t write “girl” or “she.” The thing about being let down is that it happens to all of us. What I hope people take away from the song is that everything is going to be okay. When life knocks you down, it is often hard to see that. So, I hope this song positively impacts people.

Q) You also have the song “Better Day” out. What kind of fan feedback have you received to the track?

A) I’ve had really good feedback! People explain it as “anthemic” and “real” and I like that! This is the most personal I have ever been when writing a song, so releasing it and getting great feedback is humbling.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I usually always write the chords and get an idea of the melody before I start writing lyrics. It’s easier that way.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I leave majority of the production to my amazing producers, but I always question things and go back to them with ideas. The first version that the producer sends me is never the final version. I’m a perfectionist.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Julius Cowdrey performance?

A) Big energy and emotion. I just uploaded a video of my single release launch onto my Instagram, go check it out and see what you think!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Notting Hill Arts Club, my first sold out show! This was the best night of my life. I performed at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. That was pretty special as it’s a legendary venue and the artists that have performed there are just incredible.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) TBD…

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I’d like to write a duet with Sia or write and feature on a Kygo song.

Q) We loved you on “Made in Chelsea.” What did you personally take away from your time on the series?

A) It was a cool experience, but I’m glad I have left. It is fairly intrusive, but at the same time…exciting. I met some fun people and it really gave me an amazing platform, so I can only be thankful to the show.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Lewis Capaldi & Shawn Mendes – their music is just real!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I feel by having a following, I have a duty to positively impact people. There is so much crap in on social media, mainly Instagram… That if I can brighten my followers day and speak about real things, then I am doing the right thing… I feel the same way about my music.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thanks for listening!! I honestly love you all. I am writing more music for you, so stay tuned!
