Interviews
Kelly Sullivan – Her Boyfriend’s Secret
By: Lisa Steinberg
Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) I just finished two feature films, one with Nana Visitor and Brett Zimmerman called My Darling Grandmother and one with Shawn Christian and Lizze Broadway called Insta Killer. And I’m currently working on Season 5 of “Henry Danger” at Nickelodeon.
Q) Your latest project is the Lifetime movie Her Boyfriend’s Secret. How did you get involved in the film?
A) Paul Ruddy, the casting director, sent me the script and asked if I was interested.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the movie?
A) I loved the script and was excited to work with a female director.
Q) Was there anything you added to Melissa that wasn’t originally scripted for you?
A) My sense of humor.
Q) Lifetime movies have their own special flair and style. Did you watch any of the other movies (like Accused at 17, Betrayed at 17, Stalked at 17, etc.) before shooting this?
A) No. I approach every project the same way – keep it simple and honest, and you’re all set.
Q) Talk about working with costar Maiara Walsh.
A) She is a talented and generous actor. We clicked from the first day and we had a lot of fun on set. I love the relationship that develops between Melissa and Carrie.
Q) What advice did director Lisa France offer during filming that you took to heart?
A) Have fun. Always, always have fun.
Q) What was the tone of the set? Was it as intense and serious as the movie?
A) My favorite thing about Lisa is her sense of humor and her energy. She creates a supportive and safe environment and brings out the very best in her actors and crew.
Q) What were the most fun and the most challenging parts of this role?
A) The schedule is insane, but I love it. The last sequence of the movie is pretty physical. It was cold and raining when we filmed the chase scene and I remember my hands and feet were numb and falling down a lot.
Q) What do you think it is about Her Boyfriend’s Secret that is going to make it a fast Lifetime favorite?
A) The writing, the directing, and the acting make this movie really good. I’m incredibly proud of it.
Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the instant fan feedback you’ll receive to the movie?
A) I am! I think people are going to really enjoy this movie! I am excited to hear what people say.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the work that you do?
A) Thank you so much for all the love and support, it means so much to me. I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I do!
