Kill Them With Colour – Coastal

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Island and Electronic. “Electropic” for jokes.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Daft Punk, Jai Paul and Michael Jackson.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Coastal.”

A) “Coastal” is about the in-between feeling you have being in a long-distance relationship, geographically and emotionally. Although the miles make it confusing and difficult, when you miss someone that bad it’s still all worth it.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Lilianna’s awesome vocals and the sound that makes the listener have those good summer-feel vibes.

Q) How did you come to work with Lilianna Wilde on the track?

A) I came across her music and loved her voice, so I just reached out to ask if she wanted to collaborate with me and now, here we are!

Q) For your tracks with lyrics, what is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Yeah, I’m more of a beat first type of producer. But if the singer has an idea in mind, I’m always game to hear what they’re going for.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I have 100% of a hand in all the production I make. Even when I’m collaborating, I still definitely play a huge part to the end goal of the sound.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Kill Them With Colour performance?

A) Lot’s of colour!

Q) What songs off your upcoming album are you looking forward to performing live?

A) All of them! But probably most excited for “Sriracha” feat. Rahn Harper.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your album Coastal as a whole?

A) Dancing on a beach, in a tiki hut, or at a poolside.

Q) The album comes out on July 13th. How do you plan on celebrating?

A) Throwing an EP release party in Toronto – more details to follow soon!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Any place that has warm weather and a hype crowd.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Mr. Eazi.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) It’s definitely Deep Forest’s first album for me. These two French dudes in the 90s went down into the African jungle and recorded different tribes and created this incredible timeless sound. I highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t heard it yet.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I’m not sure where’d I’d be without the support of my fans. And before social media I don’t think there was a way to actually thank people personally or respond to their questions other than receiving fan mail, which would take weeks. Social media is just a lot quicker.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) To each and everyone of you, thank you for your support and always listening. I really hope you enjoy all the new music in store. Much love <3
