Q) How did you come up with the idea for the Hope and Humor Tour?

A) The feedback I’ve been getting from people, since I started making my videos, is that my content either made them laugh or brought them encouragement and hope. So, I wanted to turn that into a live show. I think hope and humor are the basics we all crave in our daily chaos. We want to know everything will be okay and we need to learn to laugh at the craziness life and parenting can bring.

Q) What do you hope attendees take away from the experience?

A) My hope is that everyone who comes to the show will leave feeling stronger and braver and more confident to handle whatever life and parenting throws their way.

Q) Where did the “mom-centric” ideas come from for your featured videos?

A) Years ago, when I was a single mom and completely broke and depressed, I genuinely believed that my children deserved better than me. My mission now is to reach those parents who are feeling as worthless as I did and to remind them how amazing they are. Whenever I’m creating new content, I think, “What did I need to hear/see when I was at my lowest?” That’s the message I want to put into the world.

Q) You have great comedic timing. Is it something that has always been a natural ability or something you studied?

A) My family and friends say I was always a funny kid, finding a joke in everything in life, even the hardships. But I did also study theatre in college and that has helped me feel really comfortable on stage and in front of the camera.

Q) There are some great recipes on your website. What are some of your favorite recipes that you have shared?

A) Anything with carbs! I love good homemade breads, whether savory or sweet (cheesy biscuits, cinnamon buns, homemade pop-tarts…) and I love desserts (like my molten lava cakes and Nutella crème brulee). On my Instagram stories I’ll often share what I’m making for dinner because I know busy families are always looking for easy, last minute dinner idea.

Q) What advice would you give to new parents?

A) Stop chasing the unrealistic fairytale and embrace the adventure. We have this picture in our head of what parenting will look like and then when it turns out differently than our pre-kid fantasy, we feel inadequate. Parenting and life in general are a lot easier when we realize that none of it is going to be perfect, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be pretty wonderful.

Q) You won Mark Barnett’s reality competition “Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star.” What did you learn from that experience?

A) The main lesson I took away from that experience is to stop listening to all those negative thoughts in my head telling me all the reasons I can’t accomplish something and to instead believe in my passion and my goals and to be proactive about them. Dream big, but also be willing to work really hard for those dreams!

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive to your events and posts?

A) I feel like my social media pages have become this amazing, supportive community and I love that! It’s not all about me. I’ll see in the comments people who don’t even know each other, encouraging one another. At my events I’ve heard of so many people coming to the show on their own because they didn’t have anyone to bring with them, and then making friends at the show. That makes me so happy.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you?

A) Thank you. Your support and the personal stories you have shared with me inspire me every day. It’s because of you that I feel fulfilled in my work every day.
