Q) How did you land the role of Lisa-Karen on “Firefly Lane?”

A) My audition process has been kinda crazy for this show! I originally auditioned for the role of Tully, then I auditioned for the girl that Tully punches in the first season and almost booked the role! Except my last day on a different show (“Julie and the Phantoms”) conflicted with “Firefly Lane,” so I couldn’t do it. I was so disappointed. Exactly two years later, I booked Lisa-Karen and I couldn’t have been happier!! To me, it goes to show that everything happens for a reason!

Q) What has been one of your favorite moments of filming on “Firefly Lane?”

A) One of my favorite moments was when we were filming the party scene in episode 4. You don’t really get to see it in the show, but the film we’re watching at the party is one that Eugene (Kate’s nerdy love interest) made himself!! It’s a hilarious five-minute compilation of him just eating cereal.

Q) In the show your character Lisa-Karen wants to take up the role of Kate’s (Roan Curtis) best friend and this sparks a sort of conflict between her and Tully (Ali Skovbye). What kinds of conversations did you have with Ali and Roan to create the perfect amount of drama and tension with your characters?

A) Me, Ali, and Roan have had so many conversations about how important it is as women to lift each other up and not compare ourselves! So, by having those conversations, we were able to achieve the opposite in the show! It’s funny how different our dynamic is in real life compared to the show. In real life, we have so much fun together!! They recently showed their support by coming to see the theatre show I’m working on! They’re both so kind, thoughtful, unique and funny in their own ways!!

Q) How much are you like your character Lisa-Karen and in what ways are you different?

A) I definitely have a type-A personality the way Lisa-Karen does! And I like things done my way. In my own brain, things work out perfectly!! And like Lisa-Karen, I sometimes get frustrated when I figure out that’s not true. I’m different than Lisa-Karen in the way I carry myself and the way I treat others! I’m definitely a lot more chill than her too. But that’s not saying much. Everyone in the whole world has more chill than Lisa-Karen!

Q) Are you able to tease what is in store for Lisa-Karen in part 2 of “Firefly Lane” Season 2?

A) I can’t say much but the character definitely takes a turn!

Q) Aside from “Firefly Lane” you are very well-known for your role as Britta on “Riverdale!” What can you share with our readers about the final season?

A) The final season is set in the 50’s and feels a lot like the original comics, which I grew up loving!!

Q) Britta was also taken under the wing of Cheryl Blossom, who is played by Madelaine Petsch. What was one of your favorite Cheryl/Britta moments and how did you and Madelaine develop the relationship between your characters?

A) I had a lot of fun with Mads during our little journey as Cheryl and Britta! The show kind of parallels real life because Cheryl and Britta were getting to know each other at the same time that me and Mads were! Me and Madelaine developed a kind of big sister/little sister dynamic where I had fun photo-bombing her selfies and annoying her on purpose!

Q) What have you personally taken away from your time working on this iconic series?

A) The biggest thing I’ve learned from working in “Riverdale” is to be yourself! That’s all you’ve gotta do to make connections and have fun on set.

Q) While you are best known for your on-screen roles, you have also been very involved in theater since you were four and are currently in a play that just opened. What can you tell us about the play you are currently in and how has your experience in theater helped to prepare you for roles in front of a camera?

A) I’m currently playing Anne in Anne of Green Gables at the Gateway Theatre in Vancouver! The story is about an imaginative, open hearted orphan girl who is accidentally accepted into a family. We get to see the community come together and learn to accept her as she experiences love for the first time! My favorite thing about Anne is the way she appreciates the beauty of the world! Theatre has taught me to fully commit to every character I play.

Q) If you could have your dream role, who would you like to portray and why?

A) I would love to play Jenna in Waitress because it’s the first show I ever saw on Broadway, and I really relate to the character or Joan of Arc because she’s badass!

Q) What would you like to say to fans and supporters of the work you do?

A) Thank you! I love my little community of Britta stans and am always so grateful for their beautiful artwork and edits! You guys are the best. [smiles]
