Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I think it’s hard to sum up your own sound in words. I have been told that I have a lot of soul in my voice. I think it has a lot to do with my rasp.  I am definitely a ballad singer, but I love to sing the fun ones too.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) The original influence has to be Taylor Swift. Now I would say Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Maddie and Tae, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson and I absolutely love Sam Smith.

Q) Please share the story behind your new song “How Far.” Talk about working with Karianne Jean to create the song.

A) I love working and writing with Karianne Jean. We just gel. I have told people that this was a song from my real experience, and it is definitely based on something that happened to me. This was not what we intended to write about that day, but we sat down and started talking about it and this song just flowed out of us. It’s about feeling like you have so much love to give, but you never get the chance to show it.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I always feel like I am writing another song about a relationship, but things that happen in my life are what inspires me to sit down and write. I never really thought about other meanings that the song could have for people. I always use this example, but it was so good.  Someone commented on my TikTok about how the song reminded her of her of a relative who is deployed, and he will never know how far her love will go for him. That’s why we do this. I just love when my music can be relatable to others in different ways than intended.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) Well, I just made the last revision and it’s a pretty cool concept and was filmed by Films by Lex (Lexy Burke) at Nashville Canvas. I don’t want to say much but it definitely shows “How Far” my love can go.

Q) You wrote your first song at age thirteen years old. What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) No, not really. I have often come up with lyrics first due to an experience or just something cool that I heard someone say. I have a file on my phone called “original song ideas.” I do usually write the chorus first and add around it.

Q) Bill McDermott produced “How Far,” but how much of hand do you typically have in the production of your music?

A) Bill was so great and really listens to what you have to say. He is so talented and good at what he does though, I think you just end up circling back and doing what he originally said.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I really hope so! I definitely plan on trying to get an EP out at some point. I can’t say there are any definites right now with all this craziness. Nothing has gone as planned so far, but it has worked out.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Pretty sure a lot of people say this, but there was definitely something about singing to a crowd at the Listening Room. Really hope to get back there to sing soon. I am going to be attending Belmont in the fall and majoring in Songwriting at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business and look forward to being in the middle of it all. I also had a really great time performing at Tootsies. In my hometown of Louisiana, I would have to say Happy’s Irish Pub.  The place was packed, and I was singing with a full band, and we had an absolute blast that night.  I love the intimate small gigs as well though.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) That is such a hard one. I would love to do a duet with someone. I love the layers you get with two different voices in a song. This could change daily but I guess I would say Kacey Musgraves.  I really think we could something fun.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I am always listening to Kacey. I do have a broad range of music that I like though, and I have also been listening to Maisie Peters. The music I listen to could change daily as well. Always scoping out new stuff.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s everything! I have gained so many loyal followers through there and they have stayed with me for years. It was such a savior during the pandemic being able to do lives and takeovers vs in-person performing. Doing my best right now to try to break in to TikTok.  I have always binged watched TikTok, but never posted and now I have to.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) How much I appreciate their continued support. I want them to know how much their comments and encouragement mean to me and how it really keeps me going. You are nothing without your fans.
