It’s Friday! Every week on this day Adam (Matt LeBlanc) and Andi (Liza Snyder) have a date night with Don (Kevin Nealon) and Marcy (Kali Rocha) at Mick Ale’s. This time Andi is bored from repeating the same routine. She wants to ditch them and check out the new place called “Jalapeno Kevin’s” with Adam alone. Adam is unsure about breaking the tradition with his brother. At the office Don offers his emergency stash pocket bacon strips to Adam and Lowell (Matt Cook) as snacks. Lowell soon heads out for a date night with a mobile cat groomer he recently met at the bandaid aisle at the drugstore. Adam is glad that he got married and didn’t follow Lowell’s footsteps. Don reminds him of their regular date night at Mick Ale’s and just to spice things up for next Friday he suggests going to a jug band’s concert after dining at Mick Ale’s. Adam turns it down as he finds the band lame. Don warns Adam that he is missing out on the only opportunity where he can shout “nice jugs” without getting into trouble!

Just before leaving for Mick Ale’s Adam gets a text from Don. It turns out that Marcy sprained her ankle and that they can’t do date night tonight. Secretly thrilled Andi and Adam head straight to Jalapeno Kevin’s. They enjoy crystal blue margaritas until they spot Don and Marcy in the company of a young couple, chatting and having fun! Realizing that they got blown off, Adam and Andi return home seething with anger. Adam wants to verbally abuse Don but Andi asks him to talk face-to-face the next morning. They go to Don’s and try pushing him to admit that they frolicked at Jalapeno Kevin’s after unceremoniously blowing them off. Adam even furnishes a picture that he captured for evidence, but Don continues to deny. Marcy comes in and spills the truth. She admits that the traditional date night started to feel stale and then raves about the young and dynamic “T&T” couple- Tina (Tatiana Carr) and Trevor (Bryce Durfee). After mutually agreeing that the date night feels boring now, Marcy announces her wish to take a break. Andi is shocked that they broke up with her and Adam. They get home and discuss getting back on the wagon by finding a rebound couple. Kate (Grace Kaufman) agrees to their plan and compares it to how she found herself a rebound the last time she got dumped. She advises them to go hangout at the upcoming parent’s mixer. Adam and Andi agree.

Adam and Andi are at the parent’s mixer. Andi beats her jitters and starts to scan the couples by seating herself on a centrally-positioned sofa while Adam sits on a wooden chair next to her. As soon as he sits both arms of the chair come off! Flabbergasted, Adam grasps them tightly whilst remaining seated. Soon they are approached by the hosts, Wally (Al Coronel) and Deborah (Nicola Lambo). Wally hints at Adam sitting on their favorite chair while Deborah recalls how her deceased grandfather built the antique furniture. Adam gets busted when he’s forced to shake hands with Wally. He and Andi take a leave and go straight to Jalapeno Kevin’s. While sipping on blue margaritas, they wonder how Don would’ve loved the “chair” story and everybody would’ve had a good laugh about it. Andi realizes that Don and Marcy are irreplaceable until she spots them with the T&T couple. Don does the introductions. Adam and Andi hint at the age difference between the couples, but Don takes it on his stride. Marcy reveals that Tina is a fitness instructor and offers Andi to touch Tina’s abs. Andi declines and prevents Adam from touching too. Don wonders if they’re alone. Andi impulsively says no and Adam immediately points at a random couple. They go and sit at their table. The couple, Mason (Andrew Patrick Ralston) and Bessica (Charlene Amoia), are slightly confused. While Andi tries to explain their gatecrashing, Mason reveals that they are Buddhists and they believe that the universe brought them together. Adam and Andi feel weird.

They soon learn about how Bessica changed her name from Jessica as she believed that she’d grown into the “Best Jessica.” They also learn the couple is vegetarian and are devoid of the very emotion of anger. Given how opposite they are, Adam and Andi start to feel misfit. Meanwhile, Don and Marcy try to decipher what Adam and Andi are up to. Marcy does lip-reading and misreads “Buddists” as “Nudists” which piques Don’s attention. They too learn from their T&T couple that unlike them and their love of cooking shows, Tina and Trevor don’t own a TV and like to spend their time talking to one another! The next day Andi and Adam share details from the disastrous night with Lowell. Andi asks him if he and his cat groomer lady are available. It turns out that it’s off as Lowell is severely allergic to cats. After listening to them, Lowell realizes that Don and Marcy complement Adam and Andi like no other couple. He suggests a grand gesture followed by reconciliation. Adam and Andi get all charged up to win Don and Marcy back! Meanwhile at Don’s, Marcy complains to Joe (Stacy Keach) and Bev (Swoosie Kurtz) about the disastrous night and hopes that they’d be available for date nights from here on. They turn her down as Bev doesn’t like Marcy and they soon take a leave. Adam and Andi come in. Andi apologizes for taking the rut too seriously while Marcy apologizes for dumping them. The couples reconcile and Adam suddenly reveals four tickets to the jug band’s concert. Don and Marcy are thrilled. At the concert Andi and Adam aren’t too psyched as it’s not their genre, but they admit that it’s just to make Don and Marcy happy. The concert begins and by the time it’s over Adam and Andi seem just as pumped and overjoyed as Don and Marcy. In fact, Adam even screams “nice jugs!”
