The show begins out of focus and eventually we see a 3D printer working on a project as we go to title screen.

Tandy (Olivia Holt) has been hurt and is groggy. We hear Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) telling her that she has a concussion after the crash. She asks him if he’s trying to kill her after shooting at her and causing her to crash. She recognizes Tyrone as the boy from night her father died. Tyrone tries to explain what happened until the two of them hear police sirens in the distance and she quickly drives away.

Tandy hears ringing in her ears and struggles to focus as we see the car finally give out. Detective O’Reilly (Emma Lahana) interviews Rick (Mike Donovan) about the attack, but it is clear that she knows exactly what led up to the attack. Once Rick realises he her to leave.

Tandy sneaks into her mother’s (Andrea Roth) house where her and her boyfriend Greg (Gary Weeks) are napping. Melissa finds her in the bathroom and is initially angry until she sees how injured and upset Tandy is, but they are interrupted by the police knocking at the door. Detective O’Reilly wants to know where Tandy is and Melissa covers for her daughter and Greg reminds the Detective that she needs a warrant to enter the house.

Detective O’Reilly says she is not there to arrest Tandy and tells her mother that she was involved in an assault but does not elaborate further. The detective does insist that she will do whatever she can to protect her. Tandy hears the entire conversation, including when her mother says that she runs away whenever she feels threatened. The detective finally leaves, but Melissa finds Tandy already gone when she goes to tell her the coast is clear.

Tandy is waiting at the bus station she’s still getting headaches, as she sits in the bus the headaches get worse and then suddenly everything stops. Tandy opens her eyes and finds the bus empty. She heads to the front and as she does so there is light coming from the door the same light as her visions. She heads through and ends up on a basketball court and sees Young Tyrone (Maceo Smedley).

The 3D printer continues its work as we see the opening moments from Tyrone’s perspective. He explains that he teleported there from the city rather badly, but their talk is interrupted by the sounds of sirens. He hides by the side of the road and isn’t seen by the police.

The next day Tyrone goes to see Father Delgado, but he isn’t in the office so Tyrone takes the time to pray reflecting on the past few days and we discover that he is also talking to his brother Billy. He’s overheard by Evita (Noëlle Renée Bercy) who is adorably nervous about the whole thing. She heard that he thinks he is cursed and she is convinced that she knows someone who can help. After school Tyrone heads into the city on the tram and is the last to join a tour group that is being hosted by Evita.

It is the Damballah Voodoo tour. Evita explains the origin of New Orleans voodoo as well as touching on the history of the city and Marie Leveau. The tour goes to her tomb and Evita explains that people make wishes at the tomb and she asks for volunteers to try. She picks Tyrone who undergoes the ritual. The tour ends at the Damballah, Evita’s family business. He asks if she believes in voodoo and she says she believes in it as much as she does the stuff they hear at their Catholic school.

Evita takes her upstairs to meet her Auntie Chantelle (Angela M. Davis), who seems very distracted playing a game until Tyrone gets too close to some figurines on top of the fireplace. Auntie Chantelle reveals that the figurines are as old as the city and eventually invites him to take a seat. Talking more to Evita than Tyrone, she says that he doesn’t think he deserves to be helped. She begins dealing normal playing cards while reciting the Lord’s Prayer in French. She pulls the Joker card, which she says represents hopes as well as fears, mentioning that they are similar in many ways. She then says he needs a bath and abruptly gets up.

Evita explains that it is a cleansing bath, which is a Voudun tradition and used to cleanse evil spirits. When Tyrone asks if he could do anything else Auntie Chantelle explains that she could give him a concussion, which is another way to reach an altered state which would allow him to get to “The Land of the Loa” and hands over a list of ingredients.

Tyrone and Evita sneak into his house with a bag of the needed ingredients, his mother Adina (Gloria Reuben) is downstairs on the phone talking to someone about a need for their company to use real employees to improve the corporate image. Evita and Tyrone have a moment on the stairs while hiding. Evita tells that he be nude for the bath and looks away while he undresses. She guides him through the process getting him to a meditative state.

Tyrone lays in the water with his eyes closed when he opens them everything is much darker with and Evita and his mom are nowhere to be seen. As he heads downstairs full clothed he notices the photos on the stairs are different depicting strange symbols the window outside shows an aurora borealis effect. He goes through a door finding himself on the same rooftop he first teleported to in his sleep, he finds Young Tandy (Rachel Ryals) there in her ballet outfit.

Back in her vision Tandy watches Young Tyrone play basketball when his brother Billy arrives, and they start to play “HORSE.” Billy’s friends arrives and we realize this is a version of the events before Billy’s death. They want him to come with them to get the stereo back, but Billy is staying with his brother. When his friends leave Billy hands Young Tyrone a crumpled piece of paper. It is a check. The vision fades out as Billy takes a shot at the basket.

Still in Tandy’s vision we are outside in the woods with a large tree whose branches overlook an opulent table. Tandy looks around confused then sees the objects on the table a sword, a rope and an old-style pistol. Tyrone walks out unaware of Tandy dressed Hamilton style and chooses the pistol. He then stands in front of his parents Adina and Otis (Miles Mussenden).

Tyrone uses the gun to shoot Detective Connors who appears. Afterwards, we see his parents looking on before they fall to the ground while Tyrone has two checks with blood on them. Police sirens sound and Tyrone is surrounded. He then is chased by riot police until the scene resets.

This time Tandy shouts telling Tyrone it won’t work as he chooses the rope. Again the police appear this time with flaming torches instead of batons and they chase a noose. We see that he’s hanged as his body swings back and forth. The scene resets again.

As Tyrone considers what weapon to choose Tandy implores him to stop she says he can’t keep doing the same thing, he has to try something else. Tandy notices that she’s formed a light dagger in her hand and places it on the table alongside Tyrone’s other choices.

Tyrone chooses the light dagger, but when we see him take it from the table it is now a set of hand cuffs. As he approaches Detective Connors the man runs off and the vision ends. We’re back in Tyrone’s vision as he tries to talk to Young Tandy. She’s listening to her unseen teacher and practicing not seeing the shorted out Roxxon sign and the water puddle. Tyrone runs in to save her and he “teleports” her away as the sign falls. He reappears alone in the forest at night. He sees a board meeting enclosed in a see-through room in the middle of the forest. Tandy stands next to it watching what is happening inside.

Tandy’s father is at the meeting but strapped to his chair. The rest of the meeting vote with a thumbs down and they start to water board him while Tyrone tries to intervene. He then notices Tandy just standing there before running away. He tries to follow, but back in front of the board room now Tandy’s mom Melissa is there and Tandy runs again falling into the mud. Tyrone asks her where she is running to and the vision resets when she sinks underneath the mud.

This time we see Young Tandy trying to save her father while Tyrone shouts at present Tandy, who is still standing outside staring to help. He sees her start to run and shouts “STOP,” activating his cloak power which touches Tandy. He tells her to try something else and Tandy now has a light dagger in hand.  She approaches the board meeting and touches it to the wall, which causes a flash. The board meeting and Tandy disappear, replaced by some old large doors which Tyrone pushes through.

Back in Tandy’s vision she pushes a door open and sees a room where the floor is covered in checks with Billy as the check holder made out to Tyrone. On the wall there is a sign saying, “We cash corporate checks” and Tyrone’s jersey in a frame. She finds Tyrone behind a door crying on the floor.

In Tyrone’s vision he walks into the church that Tandy has been living in. There is a line of men at communion with Young Tandy handing out some sort of prescription drug. After each man takes the drug they take a couple of steps and then we see Rick collapse. The last person in the line is Liam (Carl Lundstedt). We see him take the drug himself and a smiling Young Tandy blesses him before he too takes a few steps before collapsing. At this point the two seem to be become aware of each other and we see that there is only the stained-glass window of the church between the two vision worlds. They both reach towards the window with their power gathered in their hands and then they both wake up as they touch the window.

Detective O’Reilly is in her car when Detective Connors knocks on her window. He hands her Rick’s driving licence and says it was found on a dead junkie and that the assault case is now closed. We also learn that O’Reilly is former NYPD from a snarky comment Connors makes. Just after he leaves, Tandy calls O’Reilly and says she is willing to stay and face things. Tyrone is walking Evita home and thanks for the day. She says he looks better and he agrees. As they walk, Tyrone recognizes the old abandoned church that Tandy lives in. Evita asks if he got the answers he was looking for and he says no but he feels that he will soon be able to. He declines telling Evita exactly what he saw in the vision and she reveals that she made a wish two days before. The two then kiss.

Tandy is in the car with Detective O’Reilly and it appears that O’Reilly has just finished explaining that the case is now closed. She apologizes for the cover up and Tandy leaves without another word. The 3D printer continues to work, and we see that it is Auntie Chantelle. She made a model of Tyrone cast all in glossy black. She peers closely at it as she sets it on the fireplace next to the other figures.

Tandy climbs down into the church and finds Tyrone there who says, “I think we need to talk.”
