Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Fresh teen pop music, romantic and good for all occasions.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Lady Gaga, Adele and Ed Sheeran. You can easily find a piece of them in my music stuff, but also Queen and Ludovico Einaudi influenced my music growth, especially in my last songs that are not published yet. I listen to all the international pop music but I like rap and rock and class well.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “The Distance.”

A) I’m from Rome, but a few months ago I moved to Singapore with my family. I love my new city because it’s safe, organized and beautiful. It has an amazing mix of different cultures, but a piece of my heart is still in Italy….

You know, it’s really difficult to have a long-distance relationship when you are young, but even if our love story is over the emotions and the songs will last forever.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Fans like songs that tell something true and sincere. Music and lyrics have to show your emotions and it’s not easy because it’s like letting everyone read your secret diary.

But if you can do it, you write a great song.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It depends. I write a lot of music and every song has a different process. When I was younger, I used to write lyrics first, but now I mostly start composing the music with my piano or guitar.

To be honest, the best songs of mine are the ones I wrote the music melody and lyrics all together at the same time. Those special emotional moments when your thoughts become a song in few minutes, without any effort. But it doesn’t always happen.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) The production can be the most stressful part of the game. You create a baby-song and someone else decides how to dress it up. You need to be strongly connected with your production team because it’s a matter of personal taste and feelings.

I can use Logic Pro and other tools. I play piano and guitar, but I don’t have enough experience to make arrangements, recording, mixing and mastering by myself. And in any case, it’s always better to work in teem but the artist has always to express his opinion.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) I’m not planning to release an EP or an album because publishing singles is better nowadays. My new single “In My Mind” will come out in one month.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Matilde Girasole performance?

A) Performing live is the best part of my artist life – when my music makes me feel strongly connected with other people. At the moment I sing in small and medium venues, like restaurants or pubs where I can meet my fans and talk with them. In Singapore it’s kind of easy to find nice places to perform in and one of my favorites is Bones ‘N Barrels in Sentosa. For my future, I dream to have the opportunity to showcase in big venues in front of thousands of people.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Chris Brown. Please, let him know! 😂

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m listening to Black Pink because I’m interested to understand the K-pop scene.

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming artists?

A) It’s really important to study. Talent is a lot but not enough.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Of course, I am on Instagram, Facebook, SnapChat and others. Nowadays you can arrive to your fans without labels, talent shows or contests, just using your social media.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) If you like my music add my songs to your playlist, listen to it and share on your social media! Of course, follow me on Instagram to keep updated on my new release. Love you all!
