Q) What are the recent projects you are working on?

A) Rim of the World and Always Be My Maybe just came out on Netflix. I also am in “Arrow” and I play Ali Wong’s daughter on “American Housewife.” I’m working on a couple other exciting projects this year as well but I can’t talk about them yet! Stay tuned.

Q) Please tell us the premise for the movie Always Be My Maybe.

A) Always Be My Maybe is a rom-com about Sasha and Marcus. They are next door neighbors and best friends who grow up together. When they get into an argument (as teenagers), they stop talking to each other until they meet up years later as adults.  They lead very different lives as adults but still have that spark. [wink]

Q) What made you want to be a part of the movie?

A) I love Ali Wong (I’ve played her daughter, Marigold, on “American Housewife” for three seasons), so I’ve gotten to know her sense of humor.  I loved the idea of playing a younger version of her.

Q) How was young Sasha originally described to you?

A) They didn’t give me a ton of guidance… I think they wanted to see what actors might do with the role. I decided to play a kid version of real-life Ali.

Q) Did you spend much time with Ali Wong to sync up how you both wanted to portray the character?

A) I got to spend some time with her and her family in Vancouver on the weekends. They are so nice and I love her kids!

Q) Talk about getting to work with both talented comedic actors Ali Wong and Randall Park.

A) Ali and Randall are so incredibly talented but also so nice. They’re both really funny individually, but when they get together they are HILARIOUS!

Q) What advice did director Nahnatchka Khan offer that you took to heart while filming?

A) Natch was sooo great!  I loved working with her because she’s really patient and always answered my questions. She also gave me the freedom to give my opinions while shooting and I appreciated that because I want to be a director like her one day.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments from filming Always Be My Maybe

A) I really enjoyed getting to know the rest of the cast. Emerson Min, who plays young Marcus, became one of my best friends and we still hang out all the time. And Ashley Liao, who played teen Sasha, is actually one of my best friends in real life! Being on set with all my friends was just the best experience.

Q) What do you think it is about this movie that will make it a fast fan favorite rom-com?

A) The cast has the best chemistry and everyone already loves the adult actors.  It’s funny the whole way through and the story is so sweet!  It’s different from other romantic comedies as well, so you won’t get bored. I know everyone will love it!

Q) Who is someone you dream about starring with on screen or in TV in the future?

A) I dream of getting to work with Sandra Oh or Ming Na Wen some day because they are so inspiring to me.  I’d also love to become a director one day.

Q) What advice would you give to other young girls and boys looking to get started in acting?

A) Keep working hard and remember that not every role is for you.  So, even when you hear no, don’t let it get you down and keep going.
