Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Review By: Lisa Steinberg

Cute and educational to boot, you are not going to want to miss watching Mr. Peabody and Sherman! This father and son duo will teach you about love, science, history and the meaning of family.

Mr. Peabody (voiced by Ty Burrell) is not your average dog. He literally talks and is well educated. When not adopted as a young pup he used his time to learn and become the intellect he is today. One day when walking he heard the cry of a baby and found that it had been abandoned. So, Mr. Peabody took the boy in, named him Sherman (voiced by Max Charles) and eventually loved the boy so much he decided to adopt him. He went before a judge who ruled there was no rule that kept a dog from adopting a boy. A family was then made. Mr. Peabody’s genius led him to make an incredible invention, a time traveling pod he calls “The Way Back.” He and Sherman travel through time and learn all about incredible historic events first hand. They’ve shared some cake with Marie Antoinette, painted masterpieces with DaVinci, played beautiful music with Mozart and more! The time these two spend with each other is treasured.

After Sherman has an incident with a girl in his class named Penny (Ariel Winter) the family ties Mr. Peabody and Sherman share are threatened. If a meeting with Mr. Grunion (voiced by Allison Janney) doesn’t go well, Sherman could be taken away from Mr. Peabody. When Mr. Peabody invites Penny’s family to his house for a meeting with Ms. Grunion, a history is made. Sherman tells Penny about The Way Back and the two take off on a joyride. They end up in old Egypt with Penny ready to become queen of the Nile. When she learns the rule of the land comes with sacrifices she changes her tune. But she is already in too deep and it is up to Mr. Peabody and Sherman to save the day! Through a series of events,  the three have to work together, learn to have a little fun and discover family doesn’t come in specific forms.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman is funny, sweet and packs a wild historical ride all ages can appreciate. Your kids will learn lessons, enjoy a trip through the past and share in an emotional journey. Spend quality kiddo time at the theater watching Mr. Peabody and Sherman, you’ll have a tail wagging good time when you head to theaters!
