Q) Please tease what is new this season on “Bosch.”

A) The final season is based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novel The Burning Room, which was inspired by a real arson case. That case plays a role this season. The highly charged, politically sensitive case forces Bosch to face a grueling dilemma of how far he is willing to go to achieve justice.

Q) Where do we pick up with Mayor Lopez?

A) In Season 7 we see her take on the role of the Mayor of Los Angeles. In a job previously held by a man, she struggles to find her footing in the Boys Club of the inner political circle. In some ways she feels she owes a debt to Chief Irving (Lance Reddick), who helped her get elected, but she’s a woman who has her own vision of what she’d like to accomplish. So, there’s a good deal of conflict there. She struggles to square what he wants her to do with what she thinks she should do to help solve the murder and get justice for the girl, her family and the community.

Q) What has continued to challenge you about portraying her?

A) The biggest challenge was the counterbalance of politics as well as being her in real-time. I didn’t know what would happen next till I read that script, so I had to live her life in the moment as if it was happening to me. One can only hope to have that gift with every character and role. It’s the closest to real-life as possible.

Q) Going into this new season, were you hoping to/looking forward to sharing scenes with someone(s) in particular?

A) I had the pleasure to work with Lance Reddick since Season 6, what a blessing. It was also really fun to play opposite Mimi Rogers, Madison Lintz and briefly with Titus Welliver and Jamie Hector. I was definitely looking forward to those moments.

Q) Talk about working with costar Titus Welliver.

A) I got to meet Titus in season 6 in the makeup trailer and he was lovely. Then in Season 7, we were able to be in a scene together briefly. Though our character’s paths never really crossed, it was definitely a pleasure to work with him when I did this season. I look forward to working with Titus in the future.

Q) What are some episodes/moments that you are looking forward to fans checking out from Season 7?

A) It’s so hard to pick just one episode, but when Chief Irving learns something about the mayor – that was a good moment. Also, when the Mayor calls him out on the airwaves, I had a blast collaborating on that.

Q) It’s the final season! What has made your time on this series so special to you?

A) The cast and crew have made my time on this series memorable. Their warm welcome and the freedom to truly collaborate with the producers and directors was the best thing an actor can hope for. That will stay with me for a lifetime.

Q) What mementos have you taken home with you from your time working on “Bosch?”

A) I, unfortunately, didn’t take any home with me. I would have loved to take her pin she always wore or some of the amazing books they had on set in the Mayor’s office.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the instant fan feedback you’ll be receiving to the finale?

A) I can’t wait to get fan feedback on the entire season, the Mayor and the finale. I’d love to have them tag me in their comments or DM me about what they enjoyed. My handle on Instagram and Twitter is @hereisnatalia

Q) What are the other upcoming projects that you have been busy working on?

A) Right now, I am very excited about a script that I have in development, in addition to several voiceover projects coming out soon. I’m really enjoying the opportunities to challenge myself creatively beyond the on-camera work I have done to date. In terms of my future as an actor, the direction that television and streaming series are going is just thrilling. I can attest to that with my recent multi-season work on “Bosch.” The storytelling just keeps getting better. I’d love to find a character with a great arc that will allow me to build on the work I’ve done so far.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?

A) I would like to say a huge Thank You! All the support I have received to date has been magical to receive. The fact that I have heard that I have inspired them in many ways in their lives, leaves a big smile on my face every time. To me, this is what the art is all about.
