Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The idea that love is not always easy to navigate, its unpredictable and inexplainable at times. But it still means more to us all than anything else and we can’t always know why!

Q) Will there be a video for the song coming soon?

A) Not as of now, mostly because the fan videos of the Malex “Roswell” scene have been so amazing!!! We can’t top that emotionally.

Q) How did it feel reteaming and returning to the studio?

A) It’s always fun hanging out together, in any compacity really.  We are very comfortable with each other and our producer Lee!  We laugh. ALOT.

Q) Were there any nerves?

A) Not really! Although, Tyler [Blackburn] did get emotional when he was singing his verse.  He got down to the true essence of the song and sang his heart out.  Had to take some cry breaks.  Then, the producer and I both teared up.  It was actually very sad, but also just beautiful and real. I don’t know how to explain it.

Q) What is your song writing process?

A) Typically, I like to be inspired by a track already produced or some sort of musical progression that’s already been recorded. Lately, I’ve had my Fiancé and producer Max create beats that I can sing over.  It’s nice to have a starting point. But from time to time I’ll sit down and play some chords and hum a melody to get an idea flowing.

Q) Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It does make it easier, I’m always singing, humming, In everyday activities I’m making melodies!! They come to me in a natural way.  So, there doesn’t have to be a track, but it is nice.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) It depends on the song really. At the end of the day I either like what the producer is doing to the track or I don’t. I’m typically very vocal about how I think its sounding and what I would like to hear more of, etc. Other times, I help choose every single sound! I love the process of building a song from top to bottom. But my personal contribution lies in creating a world with my melodies and lyrics! I don’t always know how to articulate what I mean in “producer lingo” as I’m not very trained in that area.  But I communicate in a way of how it makes me feel or if something is “too dark” or “heavy,” etc.  I seem to manage somehow in getting my point across. [laughs]

Q) What did it mean to you have the song featured in an episode of “Roswell NM?”

A) I mean, it’s so awesome!  This is what I’m going for as a singer-songwriter, getting my songs heard. It’s the most satisfying thing in the world to hear your song or your artistic creation being understood, heard and creating an effect on people.  That’s the best feeling in the world. I am so blessed to have gotten all these great placements on such amazing shows! This is not a game that is easy to win. But when you do get a win, it’s such a thrill! I’ll do it forever because of that.

Q) This was your second time teaming up for a track. Are there any plans to collaborate on more songs or even team up for a full EP or album?

A) That would be the coolest!! Tyler is going back to work on “Roswell” Season 2 and also filming a movie. I’m planning a tour and releasing the rest of my personal EP.  But I’m sure there will be more collaborating in the future! When we can both make it happen!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m loving Billie Eilish – she is so young, but musically I totally look up to her.  She keeps her originality so intact. Creatively, the production, song-writing, wowza!! So badass.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would love to thank them!! It really means a lot when I see and hear that people are listening on repeat to our songs. That’s all I could ever ask. I create music for me, but also for everyone else, too. I want to inspire others in any way I can and If somehow my song or songs can open up the gates to someone’s understanding of something unknown or a connection to truth in some way, that’s the goal! I want people to feel understood and inspired. [smiles] Yes, Thank you, THANK YOU TO THE MOON!
