Q) Your music is often described as metalcore, but how would you describe your sound?
A) Metalcore is definitely part of our DNA, but I think we try to expand a bit beyond that. We love blending heavy riffs, big choruses and emotional storytelling into something that feels both aggressive and relatable.
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) We’ve pulled inspiration from bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Polaris, The Amity Affliction and Asking Alexandria. Beyond heavy music though, we’re influenced by artists who aren’t afraid to be vulnerable and honest in their writing. We always try to take those influences and turn them into something that feels uniquely Patient Sixty-Seven.
Q) You recently signed to SBG Records. What is it about this record company that made it a great fit for the band?
A) The biggest thing was how much they believed in what we’re doing. From the very beginning, it felt like they understood our vision and wanted to help amplify it rather than change it. They’re passionate, supportive and genuinely invested in helping us reach new audiences, which made the decision pretty easy. Got so much love for the team there and we’re privileged to be a part of their roster!
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “A Stitch in Time Saves None.”
A) The song explores what happens when you ignore your struggles for too long. It’s about watching things slowly unravel while convincing yourself everything is under control. The title twists the familiar phrase because sometimes there isn’t a simple fix. If you leave wounds untreated, whether they’re emotional, mental or relational, they eventually catch up with you.
Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) I think everyone knows what it’s like to feel overwhelmed or trapped in their own head. The song doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. It’s honest about the struggle. We’ve always found that people connect most with authenticity and this track wears its heart on its sleeve.
Q) The song features Telle Smith. How did you come to connect him for this collab?
A) We’ve been fans of Telle and The Word Alive for years, so having him involved was incredible. We reached out with the song and explained what it meant to us and, thankfully, he connected with the message. Once he sent his parts back, it felt like the missing piece of the puzzle. He brought so much emotion and energy to the track.
Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) Usually the music comes first. Once I’m listening to the instrumental, I start hearing melodies and feeling the emotions the track is trying to convey. That’s usually where the lyrical themes begin. Every now and then I’ll have a lyric idea already written down, but most of the time the music tells me what the song wants to be about.
Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) We’re heavily involved throughout the entire process. From songwriting and arrangement decisions to vocal production and overall direction, we like to be hands-on with every aspect. Chris Vernon, who produced our upcoming album, has been incredible and also helps to spearhead the whole thing. He’s an incredible producer!
Q) With “A Stitch In Time Saves None” out now, is this a prelude to a full album or EP?
A) This is definitely part of a bigger picture. We’re always writing and looking at how each release fits into the story of the band’s next chapter. While we can’t share all the details yet, fans can expect plenty more music and announcements in the near future.
Q) What can fans expect from a live Patient Sixty-Seven performance?
A) High energy, big emotions and a lot of crowd interaction! We always try to have a good time and help those watching us get into having a good time, moving. And if they connect with any of our songs – well. that just means everything to us.
Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
A) Perth will always be special because it’s home and where the band was built. But we always love playing Brisbane! They always show up for us and make us feel special. We are so grateful for the crowds on the other side of the country that welcome us with open arms.
Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) There’s honestly a long list, but someone like Oli Sykes would be incredible. He’s had such a huge impact on modern heavy music and has never been afraid to evolve creatively. Collaborating with an artist like that would be an amazing experience.
Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) I’m listening to a lot of Like Moths To Flames! Their new EP – all the new songs – they are all so sick. One of the best bands in the genre and they still feel underrated to me. Plus, Chris [Roetter] is an incredible designer and artist who has worked tirelessly on our new releases.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Simply, thank you. Every stream, every ticket, every message and every person who shares our music means more than you probably realise. Patient Sixty-Seven exists because of the support we’ve received over the years. THANK YOU!
