Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Sunshine Punk

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Ronnie Spector, Arthur Russel, The Cure, Blink-182

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Cut Me Off.”

A) It’s about realizing it’s time to cut people out of your life and cut yourself off from seeing them.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Maybe that we’ve all found ourselves in that situation at some point.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I usually come up with a guitar melody and use lyrics I have pre-written that make sense with the sound of the song.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am so involved in every step of it and in the past have done most if not all of it myself. In the past few years, I have enjoyed delegating the production aspect to people who are more qualified in music production and have great ideas they can contribute to the songs and production.

Q) What are some themes you explore on your new EP Lucky Star?

A) “Stupid Girl” is about self-confidence, “Cut Me Off” is about relationships ending and “Close to You” is about falling in love.

Q) What songs on the EP hold a special place in your heart and why?

A) “Close to You” because it’s nice to remember how amazing it is to fall in love with someone.

Q) After recording these four songs, how did you shake off a long day in the studio?

A) After the studio comes post-production, which is where a lot of artists get really zoomed in and stressed! I only relax after I had submitted the final masters of the songs and finished artwork. It’s a really satisfying feeling to be completely finished and proud of your work. I usually listen to the release in my car while I drive around and get excited about touring.

Q) You’ve toured so many places! Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Tokyo is amazing because of the great people and culture. It’s pure magic! I also love playing any smaller town where people are excited for you to be there!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) My friend Madeline that played drums in Yucky Duster, Allison that plays sings and bass in Peach Kelli Pop. We wanted to start our own side project where we could focus on singing harmonies. I love collaborating with my friends who I already know and am comfortable working with

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) My boyfriend played “Scattered” by Green Day, which for some reason I had never heard, and I was really moved by how good it was. Next level catchy, perfect vocal melodies and harmonies.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s a really easy and free way to let your fans know about tours and new releases. It’s kind of amazing for DIY artists. That being said, I feel like social media is so bad for everyone’s mental and emotional health, so I wish it wasn’t crucial and that I could totally opt out.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would say: See you in the pit after we all get vaccinated. Peace & Love
