Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Nostalgic anti-pop. Emo music with random pop production and electric guitars.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Saves The Day, Say Anything, Blink 182, Avril Lavigne.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Be My Motherfxcker.”

A) “Be My Motherfxcker” is a non-traditional love song. Instead of “I love you,” it’s “I love you, mother fucker.”

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) It’s something different, punk attitude over a pop tune and real lyrics.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video is in your face which I think fits the theme of the song. The graphics match the modern production of the song.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) The song is usually written on an acoustic guitar with lyrics and then I build the song in protools and give it the right feel.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I do all the production for my music myself at my home studio.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Pete Zen performance?

A) I plan on using lights and backtracks to make sure these songs come across the right way.

Q) You have toured in multiple bands. Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love Toledo, Ohio for their DIY love, skate ramps in the driveway and punk shows in the garage. I love Zurich, Switzerland for its hospitality and true love for music. And I love Richmond, Virginia for being almost like a second home to me.

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

A) I plan on release three EP’s as soon as possible.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song?

A) Avril Lavigne or die.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Right now, I’m in love with Super American. I feel like I have a similar idea and sound to them, but completely different attitudes and approaches.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s great that there is a hub where fans can tune in to check on their favorite artists and see how they live from day to day, so they feel more in touch with them.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I love you to death. I would kill mother fuckers for you. It’s me and you ‘til the end. Smooch. -Pete <3
