Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would say that my sound is country pop, but definitely more country compared to pop.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I grew up listening to country legends like Dolly Parton and Randy Travis, but currently I love Thomas Rhett, Shawn Mendes and Kacey Musgraves.

Q) How did growing up in Chicago help shape you as an artist?

A) I grew up in Chicago and I think that shaped me as an artist because even though country music isn’t really popular here, pop music is for sure. I think that having friends that listened to pop influenced me to love pop music, which then expanded my music taste. Also, just experiencing things in my hometown helps with my songwriting.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Show Off.”

A) “Show Off” is a song that talks about trying to impress someone you like, but by doing that you aren’t being yourself. I wanted to write this song as a reminder to say that if you have to be someone, you’re not to get another person to like you they just aren’t worth it. If they can’t see your value in who you really are, then that’s their loss.

Q) Talk about working with Trent Tomlinson and Brandon Darcy to create it.

A) I wrote “Show Off” with Brandon Darcy and Trent Tomlinson and it was a song that definitely took some time to write, but it was worth it in the end. I think that every word matters when it comes to songwriting and I had so much fun writing this one because it talks about being yourself and not needing to impress someone you like.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think that people, especially young teens, who are growing up in this day and age feel pressured to be like everyone else. Social media plays a big role in that because when we see other people’s lives online it seems like they are perfect. We don’t know what’s going on behind the filter and I think a lot of people can relate to struggling to be themselves.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video displays the message of the song by showing ways that Hunter (the lead guy) tries to impress me throughout the video, but as it goes on, you see how we both become ourselves and he realizes he doesn’t need to try so hard. Watch the video to see the end!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I don’t have a specific songwriting process because every writing session is different. Sometimes we start with a track or other times it could be an idea or a simple melody. It just depends on the day, and I love that because it keeps songwriting interesting.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I don’t actually produce my own music, but I always make sure that everything is the way it is supposed to sound when it comes to the final master. Brandon Darcy and Dave Huff produce my music and they do such a great job making sure that everything is the best it can be.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I have been writing a lot of songs, but for now I am going to be releasing them as singles. Sometimes I will release an EP with songs that did not go out as singles.

Q) With concerts currently on hold, have you been busy doing any livestreaming?

A) Yes! I have been doing a lot of livestreams and Zoom writes because of the pandemic and I have had a lot more time to work on my songwriting because I haven’t been able to play out. I miss playing for an audience in person because online just isn’t the same.

Q) What do you miss most about being on stage?

A) I miss everything about being on stage, but specifically being in front of a live audience and being able to feed off their energy. I also miss being with my band and playing with them.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Thomas Rhett because he is one of my favorite country artists, but I also feel like a collab with a pop artist like Shawn Mendes could be super cool.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I have been listening to a lot of Kane Brown recently. I love the tone of his voice. I’ve also been listening to Khalid, who is one of my favorite pop artists because his sound is unique.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is a way for fans to see another side of you that people don’t see through your music. It is important because it keeps fans updated with your life and gives them a chance to get to know you on a more personal level.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like to tell everyone who is a fan and supporter of my work thank you so, so much for all the support! I genuinely wouldn’t be able to do what I do if it wasn’t for the fans and encouragement that I receive from them, and they will never understand how much they mean to me. I love them. Thanks again <3
