Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is heavy, melancholic, partying, daring and fun at the same time.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Currently artists like Post Malone, The Weeknd, Tainy, Bad Bunny

Q) Talk about deciding to cover the hit Bad Bunny/Jhay Cortez track “Tarot.”

A) It was simply my favorite song last summer. I sang it too many times, I knew it by heart. They asked me, “What is the song that is not yours, that you enjoy singing the most?” And I answered “tarot.” [laughs]

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I consider that my interpretation is unique. It gives you the opportunity to experience the song in another way never heard before.

Q) What makes it the perfect follow up single to your own song “McQueen?”

A) “McQueen” was my song of the summer. It was fun, unforgettable, but a new season begins. Autumn is my favorite month of the year. What better way to start it than with a melancholic song, a sad corrido?

Q) Will there be a full video or visualizer to accompany your “corrido triste” version of “Tarot?”

A) Probably, maybe an official video very soon

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My skill is definitely writing with music, but sometimes the lyrics come by themselves and that makes it more special.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I try to get involved as much as I can. I record my guitars. For me, it is the most important thing. I also try to be present when my musicians record other instruments.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Roger Rogerz performance?

A) Too much energy, an extraordinary show, madness on stage

Q) What songs do you most enjoy performing live?

A) Without a doubt “llorando en el can am” New songs that have not been released. For example, “Valabasas,” “Amiri,” “Te di todo y mucho mas,” “La Tacoma,” and “tarot.”

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

A) That they find themselves in my lyrics. That they identify themselves in my stories and that each one of them puts their own meaning to each of my songs

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) My dream is to play as many places as possible to take my music.

Q) I recently chatted with Lulú about your collab on “Besitos.” Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Lulu is one of the best artists I have had the opportunity to make music with and I am very grateful. Currently I really want to collaborate with Danny Luxx. I am looking forward to making music with him. It would be crazy.

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I am currently discovering new artists. I like to enrich myself. I am like a sponge, and I learn a lot from other artists. I recently started listening to artists like Ramon Vega, Tyan G, Dominic Fike, jxdn

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I try to be as real as I can, but sometimes it’s difficult. I used to be a very sad young man, with low self-esteem. Roger Rogerz came to save me. He does everything that Jose Rogelio didn’t dare. He’s a super star.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) So far, I haven’t thought about it. [laughs] But I don’t doubt the fans will be creative and come up with the best name. I created a community called “Roger’s Strange World.”
