Q) We’re seeing you in the film A Cowgirl’s Song. Please tell us the premise for the film and about your character.

A) A Cowgirl’s Songis about a young aspiring country singer/songwriter Hailey Mays who is trying to overcome her fear of stage fright and become the performer she’s meant to be. Throughout the film we see her grow her relationships with her sister and formerly famous grandmother while also growing as a person. It’s a sweet, musical, family film that everyone can enjoy, and I am really excited for people to see it!

Q) How was Hailey Mays originally described to you and what made you want to portray the character?

A) Hailey automatically reminded me of myself in more ways than one. I grew up with country music in my family and I’ve always been a little shy when it’s come to singing in front of people. I felt like I could connect with Hailey on such a personal level, and I really got to bring so much of myself to the character.

Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before working with them on the movie?

A) Funny enough I actually met Darci [Lynne Farmer] very briefly at a “Kid’s Choice Awards” afterparty in 2018! It was not too long after she won “America’s Got Talent” and my family, and I watched her that whole season as well as rooted for her to win! So, I was already a big fan of her as a performer, but now after working and getting to know her, I’m an even bigger fan of who she is as a person. She really is my sister on screen and off.

Q) What were some of your favorite scenes to film?

A) Two scenes always come to mind when I think of my favorites to film. First, filming the campfire scenes with Darci and filming “You Remind Me” with Cheryl [Ladd]. When we did the campfire scenes, Darci and I sang the song “Keep on the Sunny Side” just sitting on this tree log next to a fire and it was such a simple setting, but Darci and I had the most fun filming that together. Then with “You Remind Me,” Cheryl and I decided that we would run the song while the crew was lighting the set. So, we started to sing, and I was playing the guitar and at some point, it just went quiet. We slowly started to realize that everyone stopped the work to just sit and watch us. It was this really sweet moment & one I definitely won’t forget.

Q) What do you hope viewers take away from watching A Cowgirl’s Song?

A) I hope they take away the big messages we have within the film. That they follow their dreams no matter what and they never give up on themselves.

Q) What are the other recent projects that you have been busy working on?

A) Well, one, I know some people are very excited about coming up next is my film called Keep Moving. It just premiered at Cannes Film Festival, which is still so crazy to say! [laughs] I’m really excited for people to see that because it is such a heavy dance film and dance is what got me into performing in the first place. It was my first passion, and this film really shows that. So, for those who are excited for that one will know some more info very soon, but I can’t say much else!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for the constant love and support no matter what project or job I do! It really does mean the world to me and still feels crazy there’s people out there who actually care about what I’m doing next, I mean, Acting is my passion and what I love to do, and I just never thought other people would be this supportive of my career.
