Q) You took a short hiatus in 2018 to reinvent your sound – why did you feel like this was needed?

A) I felt for a long time that I was doing the style of music other people wanted me to do rather than what I wanted. After experimenting with so many styles of music I was able to go back to my original influences and discover what I loved about music again. From there, I decided I was ready to go in a new direction and figure out what I really wanted to put out there.

Q) How would you describe your new sound?

A) I would describe it as dark, cinematic, raw, and emotional.

Q) Congratulations on the new single “Surrender It All.” What can you tell us what the inspiration behind the song was?

A) I did the writing session with a couple co-writers. I was going through my phone and came across some lyrics I had written and we decided to go off of them. When I initially wrote the lyrics, I really wanted to write a song about the monster that lives within us that we are always trying to battle. I know a lot of us go through this but we don’t talk about it. But I thought it was an important topic to write about.

Q) The single plays with two different types of genre – dark electronic-pop and cinematic sound. How did you come with the idea to mix these two together when creating this song?

A) I have been writing for visual media the last few years and that brought me to the big orchestral sound. Then, I grew up on a lot of electronic music and I really wanted to keep those elements within it since it’s a huge love of mine. I have also always loved artists such Lana Del Rey who is a big inspiration to me as a writer and where the indie pop influences come from.

Q) Did any TV or Film soundtracks inspire you when creating the sound for “Surrender It All?”

A) With this song, I was really inspired by trailer music and wanted to bring in all of the big sounds and violins that you hear on them. I love how trailers and the music in movies always take you somewhere new. I really wanted people to feel like they were taken on an adventure when they hear the song.

Q) What were some challenges you faced when writing and recording “Surrender It All?”

A) It was a big challenge doing the production because I wanted it to include a mixture of different styles which can be difficult to get the perfect blend of everything.

Q) What is hard writing and recording the song as it highlights dark times or did you feel uplifted when recording it?

A) For me, recording and singing is very uplifting and helps me get through hard times. Music has always been a big escape for me and a way to get my feelings out, which is why I wanted to start releasing music initially because I was hoping it would help others the way it has helped me throughout the years.

Q) What is your creative process like?

A) I usually start with working on an instrumental with my co-producer. Then, from there, I write melodies over it and plugin the lyrics. There are also times where I will have lyrics or ideas written out. If that is the case, then I normally will edit the lyrics to fit melodies that I am doing over the song.

Q) You’ve recently said that you’re wanting to bring more truth to the music scene and reflect on what is going on in the world through your songs – Why do you think the music industry lacks this truth?

A) I think that everyone is chasing trends and writing about what they think will sell rather them writing from their truth. There is a lot of pressure in the industry to fit a certain mold and it can be very difficult to disconnect yourself from it and do what you feel is right for you as an artist. I think there is also a fear that if you do a style of music that is different from the trends that people won’t accept you as an artist.

Q) As a writer for TV shows you’ve had your music feature on several networks such as Freeform, Lifetime and Netflix. What is one show, past or present, that you would love to write for?

A) I would love to write music for “Stranger Things,” “Ozark” and “The Haunting of Hill House.”

Q) You’ve recently joined TikTok and currently have over 130k followers. What is it about the app that drew you to join and how do you come up with your videos?

) I downloaded the app and was so entertained by the videos that I decided I wanted to try and make some too. I love making dance videos, cooking, ice skating and doing covers. I usually will have a free day and film a bunch of videos at once from sounds I save on the app.

Q) We hear your currently working on new music. What can you tease to fans a little? Maybe some themes you’ll explore?

A) My last couple songs were on the heavier side. But I am working on a few songs that will be more indie pop influenced but still will have the dark themes and cinematic elements.

Q) What are some of your career goals for 2020?

A) One of my main goals is to release more of the music I have been working on. Then, I would love to start doing more shows and tour.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and your music?

A) Thanks so much to everyone that has been supporting my music throughout the years. I’m so happy that you all have loved the new sound and hope you will love the new music I am working on.
