Stealth – Chorus

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Modern Blues Soul

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I love all the old school Blues artists such as Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf, but my influences range from Elvis to Kanye West. I try to keep as open a mind as possible.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Gotta Stop Loving You.”

A) I broke up with a long-term girlfriend. And it was the right decision from here, but it didn’t stop it from hurting. It’s one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) It’s a feeling everyone at some point has felt, the realization that sometimes there is no saving a relationship and you just have to move on and stop loving that person.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) It’s essentially me running away, trying to escape the feeling, but also trying to find somewhere new to start from.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It honestly changes day to day. This song started with a guitar riff that I turned into the vocal hum at the top of the track. But it can really come from anywhere sometimes a chord will just inspire me or even a lyric. The annoying ones are when they enter your head in the middle of the night and you know you have to record it or write it down otherwise you will forget.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I oversee pretty much everything. I trust the guys who produce the tracks entirely so obviously I let them do their thing, but it has to be inside certain perimeters that I set.

Q) What is the inspiration for the name come from for your EP Chorus?

A) So, this will be my third EP. Previous ones were called INTRO and VERSE, which are parts of songs. Being a songwriter before an artist, I wanted to have a little homage to the jobbing songwriter inside.

Q) What songs off Chorus are you looking forward to performing live?

A) An unreleased song called “Truth Is.” There are loads of chords and riffs and intricate bits. It’s just gonna be insane to play. My band will hate me.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Stealth performance?

A) Noise. It’s loud.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

A) I hope it makes them feel. I want people to listen to my stuff and go, “Shit, yeah this guy gets it.”

Q) How do you plan to celebrate the release of the EP?

A) A few beers I imagine.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) My favorite place in London is the Servant Jazz Quarters. The sound there is great, and it was where I sold out my first headline show, so it’s got a special place in my heart.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I’d love to do a collaboration with The Black Keys… that would be amazing! I love Dan Auerbach’s music. Also, Father John Misty would be cool. His lyrics are insane!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Eryn Allen Kane. Her song “Have Mercy” is bliss! Her voice is incredible.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s instant and direct. People really get to see me for me, and that’s what making music is all about… peeling back the layers.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thanks mom……. I joke. Just a huge thank you and I love you! Honestly if it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t be able to live this dream and I am eternally grateful to each and every single person who has ever streamed, shared, liked or downloaded anything I have put out!
