As she learns she lost the election, Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) is upset but declares she needs to put a smile on her face and thank everyone who supported her. Later, Kat laments to Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) and Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) that she won’t be able to help people like she had hoped. Kat tells them she feels like she let everyone down and they assure her she didn’t let them down.

Kat asks Jane how she’s dealing with Ryan Decker’s (Dan Jeannotte) confession, and Jane declares she’s not surprised as a pinstripe doesn’t change his pinstripes. Kat tells them she’s still torn between Tia Clayton (Alexis Floyd) and Adena El Amin (Nikohl Boosheri) and that she doesn’t want to hurt either one.

Jane offers Kat ice cream and she declares it not strong enough. Sutton offers her whiskey and she declares it not yummy enough. Sutton pours the whiskey into the ice cream and Kat declares she fixed the problem. Alex (Matt Ward) and Angie (Shyrley Rodriguez) fall in front of them as they stumble into the apartment making out. The trio awkwardly gawk at them and Alex says hello.

The next morning, Jane asks Alex about Angie and tells him she’s happy for him. As they leave the apartment, they see Ryan walk up to the front door and he asks to talk to Jane. Richard Hunter (Sam Page) talks to Dev (Mark Ghanime) on the phone and he tells Sutton that he’s helping him prepare for his move despite not going with him.

Ryan tells Jane that the kiss was a mistake and that he didn’t want to lie to her. Jane asks if he’s the guy that helped her with the egg freezing or if he’s the guy she heard on the radio. Ryan admits he screwed up and tells her it meant nothing. However, Jane tells him she can’t trust him and tells him to go back on tour.

Tia brings Kat some old campaign memorabilia and tells her they have a chance to explore their relationship outside the campaign now. Kat confesses that she’s realized she’s not fully over Adena but Tia tells Kat that she thinks that they have a future together and encourages her to figure things out with Adena first.

Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin) tells Jane that their article is doing well. Jane asks about Dolan’s tweet suggesting they’re fake feminists trying to drag women down, but Jacqueline isn’t worried. Alex welcomes Kat back and Patrick Duchand (Peter Vack) tells her that the city’s loss is Scarlet’s gain.

Angie fills Kat in on the details of the lipstick campaign they’re working on and Adena texts Kat asking if she can do anything to help. Kat visits Adena and they undress each other as they make out in the apartment. They end up against the counter and Kat tells her she’s still seeing Tia but assures her that Tia knows she’s working out her feelings for her. Adena tells Kat she missed her before going down on her.

As Sutton tailors Sage’s (Stephanie Costa) outfit, Julian Grant (Aaron Serotsky) asks her about not using her assigned models. Sutton tells him she wants to make clothing for real women, and Julian urges her not to embarrass him. Jane ignores Ryan’s texts and Kat arrives backstage. Sutton asks if she slept with Tia or Adena, and Kat admits it was Adena.

A former Scarlet model asks Jacqueline to sign her magazine, mentioning that her volleyball coach will be thrilled. Jacqueline is impressed she’s on a college volleyball team, but the model tells her she’s in high school. Jane asks if they’re allowed to use underage models and Jacqueline tells her it’s a common practice. Jane comments how mature the photoshoot was and questions the ethics of using underage models for it.

Jacqueline takes her seat next to Oliver Grayson (Stephen Conrad Moore) and Carly (Kiara Alondra Groulx) as Jane, Kat, Sage walk down the runway. Richard catches Sutton’s eye from the audience before Sutton comes on stage with her models to a standing ovation. After the show, Julian compliments Sutton’s work and tells her that she’s being hired to design a dress for an award show. Sutton agrees and Julian tells her to send him some sketches by tomorrow.

Back at Scarlet, Jacqueline looks at the magazine spread and pulls down several pages. As they lie in bed together, Adena declares she doesn’t want to miss anything else in her life, telling Kat she never stopped loving her. Adena tells her she knows she’s still seeing Tia, but that she doesn’t want to do this halfway. Kat asks for time to think about it and Adena agrees.

Jacqueline tells the office that Dolan’s abuse didn’t happen in a vacuum and that much of the industry overlooks ethics to sell an image. She tells them that she can’t make Scarlet an industry leader if they don’t re-evaluate how they do things. Jacqueline tells them the missing pages from the board need to be improved, including the cover. Alex points out that the issue goes to print in seventeen hours, but Jacqueline insists they need to get this issue right.

Patrick asks Jacqueline what the board thinks of her decision, and she admits she hasn’t pitched it to the board yet. Jacqueline tells him it’s the right thing to do, but Patrick refuses to change the website. She tells him it’s best that they work together as readers consider the magazine and the website the same.

Jacqueline asks Jane if she has any ideas for her and Jane pitches an article about why a feminist shouldn’t date a player. Jacqueline asks her to fill in at a panel discussing the Dolan article and Jane agrees. Tia texts Kat asking how she’s doing and Kat texts back asking if she wants to go for a walk.

Sutton sees Richard talking to Dev and remarks that their discussion sounds exciting. She asks if the only reason he isn’t going into business with Dev is because of her and he tells her their lives are in New York. As they walk, Tia admits to Kat she’s still working on her sexuality but tells her she thinks what they have is special. Kat agrees and they kiss.

Jane takes a question from an audience member asking about taking down a powerful woman in the #MeToo era. Jane replies that they felt it was their responsibility to hold Dolan accountable for abusing her power as feminists. Ryan stands up in the audience and tells Jane he has a question.

Ryan tells the audience that he’s been on a book tour recently and that he felt like he had to act more like the guy in his book but forgot who he really was in the process. He admits he hurt his girlfriend and apologizes. Ryan declares she deserves the guy he really is and that he’s in love with her.

As Sutton and Oliver oversee the reshoot of the fairy tale themed photoshoot, they agree that the product doesn’t match the vision they’re going for. Sutton suggests they deconstruct fairytales instead of playing up the fantasy aspect and Oliver agrees. Sutton takes over the shoot and Oliver reminds her she still has to sketch the dress designs afterwards.

Patrick tells Kat that he needs the lipstick account soon and Kat bumps into the box of campaign memorabilia as she sits down. Kat brings the box to the kitchen and breaks down as she throws everything away. She finds a binder with a list of people she intended to work with if she was elected and takes it with her.

Ryan approaches Jane after the panel and she tells him she doesn’t appreciate being ambushed. He tells her he meant what he said and hands her a piece of paper, suggesting it will help her realize he deserves a second chance.

Kat introduces Steven (Michael Eid) to four women, suggesting the lipstick campaign involve them talking about their work while wearing the lipstick. She pitches a campaign of “Don’t Look at My Lips, Listen to What I Have to Say.” Steven recognizes Kat from her campaign, and she explains that she realized that she still has a chance to work with these women despite losing the election.

Patrick gets an idea while meditating and pitches Jacqueline a magazine cover with app integration that allows any reader to be put on the cover. Jacqueline approves it and thanks Patrick. He admits the teamwork thing finally sunk in and she admits that the board didn’t approve her plan but that she’s doing it anyway as it’s the right thing to do.

Oliver checks on Sutton and she admits that her favorite part of the fashion show was helping everyone get ready backstage. She admits she likes working with people for a common goal and hates working on designs alone. Oliver tells her design is lonely but worth it if it’s her passion. Sutton tells him that she doesn’t think designing is her passion but working at Scarlet is.

The staff put together the finished magazine and Richard tells Sutton he’ll be working late approving all the changes. Jacqueline compliments everyone on their work and tells them she’s proud of them no matter what happens next. She tells them it’s time to send it to the presses and everyone celebrates.

Jane shows Sutton and Kat that Ryan gave her a quiz she wrote that asks, “How to Tell if You’re with the One.” Sutton and Kat go through her answers, realizing that all of her responses are positive besides repeatedly writing that he kissed someone else next to her answers. She admits that Ryan overall makes her happy and Sutton declares that she loves him.

Jane tells them she isn’t a person who stays with someone that cheats and Sutton and Kat urge her to make sure she’s breaking up with him for the right reasons. Sutton and Jane ask Kat what she’s going to do, and Kat admits she’s conflicted between Tia and Adena. She admits that somebody is going to get hurt and Jane tells her they all have to do what’s best for them.

Ryan is surprised to see Jane at his favorite pizza place, and she tells him the quiz asked if she knows what her partner needs when he’s sad or depressed and the answer is two slices of pizza from the place. She asks if he wants to sit and tells him that she would be breaking up with him because she felt like she had to. Jane tells him he can’t mess up again, telling him she loves him. He tells her he loves her too and she takes his second pizza slice. Kat thanks Tia for meeting her and tells her she thinks she’s incredible. She tells Tia she wants to stay on this journey with her, but only as a friend.

Sutton tells Richard that she sees how passionate he is about going into business with Dev and that he shouldn’t give up the opportunity. She tells him she bought him a place ticket to San Francisco, and he tells her that he doesn’t want to live across the country from her. Sutton tells him she wouldn’t have figured out her passion if it wasn’t for him and her friends supporting her and tells him he deserves to love what he does.

Kat visits Adena and admits that she’s been trying to distract herself from the pain of losing the election. She tells him she doesn’t want to run from it anymore but doesn’t feel comfortable jumping back into a relationship so quickly. Kat tells her she needs to find herself and that she’s choosing herself. Adena tells her she’s been thinking about her all day and assumed that she had something to do with Scarlet offering her a full-time photographer position. Adena tells her she accepted it, and Kat tells her it’s great.

In the elevator ride, Sutton and Jane ask about Adena and Tia, and Kat maintains that she made the right decision for her. Kat asks Sutton if Richard is really going to go, and Sutton believes there’s a chance he will. They agree that they’re glad they have each other as they walk into Scarlet and are stunned find the office being packed up and in chaos. Jane asks Andrew (Adam Capriolo) where Jacqueline is, and he tells her he doesn’t know.
