Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) video chats with Ryan Decker (Dan Jeannotte), telling him she and Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin) are confronting Pamela Dolan (Laila Robins) tomorrow. Ryan tells her about his own experience with Dolan, warning her to make sure she’s ready to face her.

Ryan gets notification that he’s going to be on NPR tomorrow and Jane is thrilled for him. Before Ryan ends the chat, he begs for a send-off and she offers to dance for him. He plays her music and she dances for him. However, Jane is startled when Alex (Matt Ward) walks into the apartment.

As they walk, Adena El Amin (Nikohl Boosheri) apologizes to Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) for how she handled things in Paris, explaining how she was struggling at the time. Kat admits that she made a lot of mistakes as well and apologizes. They agree that they didn’t make things easy for each other. Adena admits she’d do things differently if she had a second chance.

Kat tells Adena that the election is in forty-eight hours and Adena understands. Adena invites her to visit the studio, and Kat suggests that she could come after the election is over. Julian Grant (Aaron Serotsky) tells the design seminar that he’s assigning everyone a model and urges everyone to make sure they’re truly ready for the fashion show.

Kat, Jane, and Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) discuss Adena, and Kat admits she’s confused by the situation. She declares that she needs to focus on the election and Sutton asks Jane about Ryan’s interview. Tia Clayton (Alexis Floyd) tells them that NY14 is sending a reporter to their polling station, explaining that it means the race is close.

Sutton makes plans to meet with her model, Casey (Mariah Strongin) and Oliver Grayson (Stephen Conrad Moore) tells her he needs her help.  He explains that Carly (Kiara Alondra Groulx) is sick and that he needs her to watch her while he’s in meetings.

Dolan makes her way into Scarlet and Jacqueline greets her before introducing Jane. They sit down at the conference table and Jacqueline tells Dolan about the article they’re writing about her. Jacqueline presents the name of the first model, but Dolan criticizes her work ethic and declares she has no comment before Jacqueline can tell her the allegations.

Jane presents the next model’s name and Dolan continues to maintain that she has no comment. Jacqueline confirms that Dolan has no comment on all the allegations and Dolan accuses Jacqueline of writing a takedown of other women.

Jacqueline replies that she tells the truth and asks how she sleeps at night. Dolan replies that she sleeps very well and confirms that the article is posting in three weeks before she leaves. Once she leaves, Jacqueline declares that Dolan has a plan to retaliate.

Kat walks into Scarlet and is greeted by applause. Alex tells her he’s proud of her but won’t forgive her for leaving Scarlet. Kat tells him she won’t leave for a couple of months, and Jacqueline promises to loop her in on choosing a potential replacement. Jacqueline argues that it won’t be easy to replace her and Kat struggles with the reality.

Sutton works on fitting Casey while checking on Carly. She stops Carly from trying on one of the dresses and tells her to sit and not touch anything. Jane calls Eden Verbrugge (Carolina Bartczak), who tells her that a reporter emailed her asking for a comment on a story about bad model behavior. Jane asks her to report if they email again and tells Jacqueline. They determine that Dolan is trying to get ahead of their article being published.

Tia runs through the election day schedule and Kat struggles with the outfit choice. Tia tells her the interview is their last chance and Kat tells her she’s freaking out about being replaced at Scarlet. Tia tells her to nip her anxiety in the bud, stressing the importance that she show enthusiasm.

Jane and Kat watch Ryan’s interview together and he talks about the allure of being single. Ryan tells the interviewer he’s in a relationship but admits that he’s still attracted to the single lifestyle. Jane declares this isn’t helping her stress and Sutton complains about Carly getting in the way of her work, suggesting that she’s not really sick.

Jane suggests giving her a big lunch and putting her in a food coma, and Sutton questions if this is their last fashion closet together. Kat tells them she’s having anxiety and they assure her she’s going to win. Jane and Sutton slowly turn back to Kat as they leave despite Kat’s annoyance.

Sutton offers to take Carly to lunch, but Carly doesn’t want to eat. Sutton realizes there’s more to it and that Carly is indeed pretending to be sick. Carly explains that it’s picture day at school and she didn’t want to go because she feels ugly. Sutton tells Carly they should go for a walk and talk about it.

Jacqueline confirms that Dolan is trying to get ahead of their story, declaring she knew a defensive strategy would never work. She tells Jane that they can’t wait three weeks to post the story, telling her they’ll ask Patrick Duchand (Peter Vack) to publish the article on the website.

Carly confirms that the photo shoot is in an hour, and Sutton agrees to be her wing woman for a few minutes despite her workload.

Kat watches as Councilman Lawrence Reynolds (Matthew Kabwe) promises to make housing in the district more affordable, pointing out that affordable housing was a reason she ran against him. Tia tells her that it means their platform is working and tells everyone that they need to be proactive in their final push.

As Kat canvasses, she gets an email from Patrick about potential replacements and goes to see Adena. Adena asks what’s going on, and Kat tells her she needs to talk to her as a friend who can help her see things clearly. Kat tells her she’s freaking out and is unsure if she’ll be a good councilwoman. She explains that she’s realized what she’ll lose if she wins and questions if she wants to give her current life up. Kat declares she’s a terrible person for thinking like that due to how many people have been helping her with the election.

Adena tells her she wants to show her something and pulls out a canvas of a picture she took of Kat. She explains that the photo helped her realize that Kat did in fact inspire her.  Adena expresses her confidence that she would succeed as a councilwoman but tells her that she needs to decide what’s best for her.

Adena tells her that the Kat she knows is all about growth and that she’s continued to grow since they separated. Adena tells her the prospect of leaving Scarlet is scary but is confident that Kat can handle it. Kat declares that she doesn’t want to run from this and admits she should probably head out. She invites Adena to her election party and Adena promises she’ll be there.

Sutton tells Richard Hunter (Sam Page) that she’s working late again, and he tells her that he’s meeting Dev. He asks her about Carly, and she tells him what happened. She admits that it must be hard for Carly to live with the unrealistic beauty standards set by models and gets an idea.

Jane gives Kat a slap bracelet, explaining that she gave those out when she ran for treasurer in high school. Sutton, Jane, and Kat joke around and Sutton asks Kat about Adena. Kat tells her it isn’t the best time and Tia pulls her away for her interview with Cole (Stefan Oliver Keyes).

Patrick asks Jacqueline why they’re giving the Dolan story to him, and she explains that they got scooped. She tells him the article is ready to post and Patrick agrees to run the story. He compliments their work, and Jane realizes that he’s going to run with the story. Jacqueline assures her they’re doing the right thing and Jane agrees.

At Kat’s election party, Sutton finds Jane at the bar and Jane tells her she hasn’t heard from Ryan. Sutton declares Kat the councilwoman-elect and Kat confirms that she’s done everything she can for the election. Once Tia leaves, Kat tells Jane and Sutton that she’s conflicted because she’s there because of both Tia and Adena.

Kat admits she can’t get Adena out of her head and Jane sees that the Dolan article has been published. Sutton and Kat tell her they’re proud of her, but Jane tells Kat that it’s her night. Kat replies that it’s their night and that she wants to enjoy things before her life changes.

Jane assures her their friendship won’t change no matter what happens, and Sutton asks if they’ll model her clothes in the fashion show. Kat and Jane ask about her assigned model and Sutton tells them her experience with Carly showed her that she wants to design clothes for real women. They agree and Jane sees that Ryan has arrived at the party.

Jane embraces Ryan and is happy about the surprise. He compliments her on her article, but she tells him tonight they’re focusing on Kat. Oliver calls Sutton a lifesaver and shows her Carly’s school picture. He admits that Carly needs female role models in her life and thanks Sutton for being there for her.

Jane brings Ryan over, telling the group that they have a literary guest, but Ryan is uncomfortable by the attention. The current election results appear on the screen, but Ryan asks to speak to Jane before she can go with Sutton to find Kat.

Ryan takes her the stairway, telling her something happened on tour. He admits he got drunk and kissed someone else. Ryan assures her it didn’t mean anything, and Jane points out he hasn’t been gone that long.

Ryan admits he had no excuse and that he stopped it from going any further. Ryan apologizes, but Jane tells him she wishes she heard his interview sooner. He begs her to talk about this, but Jane orders him not to follow her as she returns to the party.

After talking to Susan Edison (Fiona Highet), Patrick films video of Kat for the website. Kat joins Tia who tells her she was a great candidate. Tia tells them they can figure out their relationship once the election is over and Kat sees Adena arrive at the party.
