The Devil Wears Prada 2

Can I just say thank you for this movie! Not once, but twice. The Devil Wears Prada 2 was one of those rare sequels that were just as good if not better than the first. This is why we pay to go to the movies. This is what I miss doing the most – being excited about a film coming out that it becomes something you look forward to like your favorite food. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a great example of what we long for but only now gets bits and pieces at the cinema.

You do start where they left off in the first one: however, you see what their lives have become since our first introduction to them a few years earlier. Andy (Anne Hathaway) did in fact become a writer, but a very happy one. Miranda (Meryl Streep) is still her well-dressed powerful self, but this time is up for a promotion. Nigel (Stanley Tucci) remains by Miranda’s side, as always…Emily Blunt, who plays Emily, is on her own doing her own thing within another company, but she also some secrets. There are fabulous new characters that help make this film whole. The story unfolds as Andy goes back to work for the magazine and Miranda. There are many moments of turmoil as Miranda fights to climb from her already prestigious position to a Global one. While Andy tires to help Miranda and herself, they both find that they are fighting for the traditional roles and times of publishing magazines to survive. Younger and more modern voices come into play, but that’s doesn’t mean that the team is not ready to fight for the beauty in what they all love to do. Will Andy succeed with Miranda and will Nigel get his moment he has been waiting for? I guess you will have to watch to find out!

Eyes are wide open from start to finish with barely a blink watching this film. It’s a movie that comes to life as well as it was made and cast! We get to see a very different side to each character than we did in the first The Devil Wears Prada, along with some hard truths. When I say that the Devil Wears Prada 2 brightened my 2026, I am dead serious! I went through every emotion in this movie. I love bringing back the whole team in this movie with some amazing new additions as well. You truly get to see Meryl Streep delve deeper into who Miranda is as a human being in this film and how much she does value the people around her. Of course, the sass and badass, empowering, boss lady is still there, but it’s a different version – a better version and even a humbler version. There is nothing wrong with being honest with people, even if it is brutal honesty. You will see that more so in the sequel than you did in the first. In business you can be ethical and fierce and still win. Miranda doesn’t ever go down without a fight and with the help of her people, Andy and Nigel, there will beauty in more ways than one which make this movie that much more powerful.

I know brilliant casting when I see it with the characters we all know and love: Meryl Streep as Miranda, Anne Hathaway as Andy, Stanley Tucci as Nigel and Emily Blunt as Emily. But let us not forget the amazing performances and rest of cast including Kenneth Branagh as Stuart, Justin Theroux as Benji, Lucy Liu as Sasha and Tracie Thoms as Lily. They all fit into their roles quite nicely, I might add, as they bring more depth and direction that keeps you peeled to the screen to see what the hell is going to happen next. They are perfect additions to this legendary film.

Director David Frankel is genius. That’s all. The writers, Lauren Weisberger and Aline Brosh McKenna, are brilliant! Thank you all for such an overall remarkable film. I loved how Miranda was shown in a different light a bit in this one, all the way to the very end. You just want to keep watching.

I always can find one or two things in a movie that I could go on about – that stand out throughout the film. In this one every performance and every moment was fun, shocking and blissfully enjoyable. I highly recommend anybody who hasn’t seen The Devil Wears Prada 2 yet to watch it right now. Brava to all.
