The Flash – Snow Pack

Iris (Candice Patton) is confronting Barry (Grant Gustin) about him taking Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) back to the future without asking her how she felt about it first. Barry isn’t understanding what the problem with what he has done. All he sees is that he can’t trust Nora because of her lying and working with Thawne (Tom Cavanagh). Iris points out that Barry constantly only makes decisions on his own without including her, solely based on his emotions. Barry tells her that he didn’t want to do this and that it wasn’t easy. Iris points out that Nora explained why and Barry realizes that Iris doesn’t care that Nora was working with Thawne. Iris admits to it, so Barry tells her that maybe if his mother was killed because of him she’d feel differently. Iris just thinks that he should try to understand Nora’s side more. Barry believes that because it was Nora that Iris would see his side of things. He tells her that she talks a lot about making decisions based off of emotions and he tells her to look in the mirror. She huffs and walks away.

Iris is sitting outside of Thawne’s cell telling him how she’s lost her father all over again. Thawne tells her he failed her, but Nora disagrees. She’s worried she won’t be able to help Cicada because Barry will feel her once she enters the speed force. She realizes that Thawne ran into the speedforce undetected many times, so she asks him to teach her how he did it. He tells her it’s not for her, but she begs him to tell her. He explains how he used to idolize Barry and when he realized he couldn’t be like The Flash he had to create his own speedforce by tapping into the negative.

Barry walks into the cortex asking for Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes). They let him know where they went off to and ask for Iris. Barry then says that he doesn’t know because they’re not seeing eye to eye right now because he sent Nora back to the future for good. Everyone is visibly surprised at the events. Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) makes a comment and everyone agrees that he’s done enough with the situation. Sherloque and Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) leave the room while Joe (Jesse L. Martin) takes a call. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) asks Barry if he’ll be okay, but he says he honestly doesn’t know. Joe reenters the room to tell them that CCPD called and they have a big problem.

They’re in Grace’s room in the hospital. Joe says the nurses heard a noise but when they arrived she was gone. Barry deduces that a big energy blast with heat took out the window, but they know that future Grace (Sarah Carter) took her. Caitlin tells them that younger Grace (Islie Hirvonen) isn’t in any danger with future Grace.

We’re at Dr. Carla Tannhauser’s (Susan Walters) lab watching her conduct an experiment. One of her workers stop by and she greets him. She then hears a commotion followed by gunshots going off. She sees the man get shot with an icicle. Thomas Snow, a/k/a Icicle (Kyle Secor), makes his way into the lab and breaks down a door. He walks in to steal a glowing ball while Dr. Tannhauser watches the whole thing – realizing it’s her husband.

Barry and Joe are inspecting the crime scene. He didn’t leave any evidence, but they do identify that the device is designed to keep things extremely cold. Joe asks why Icicle would want it and Barry says he doesn’t know for sure, because he’s not sure of much lately. Joe asks if he’s spoken to Iris and Barry tells him that he was trying to give her some space. He says okay, but advises him not to give her too much.

They hear Caitlin and her mother arguing as they walk through the lab. Caitlin’s upset because she didn’t agree with her mother making a choice to not tell her that her father was locked in a prison for a reason. Carla says that Caitlin never told her about releasing him either, but Caitlin rebuttals by saying it’s because she didn’t know. She thinks she could have been working on a cure for him all this time. Carla just comments that at least she has someone to blame. Caitlin tells Barry and Joe that her father stole a prototype cryo-atomizer that he can’t do anything good with.

Cecile tells Ralph that she’s found no leads on Cicada 2.0. Ralph asks Iris if maybe The Citizen has found something, but she doesn’t immediately answer so Ralph continues to call her. As he moves towards Iris we see Cecile’s powers start to make her feel something and she tries to stop Ralph before he does anything. Unfortunately, he starts to read what Iris is typing outloud and Iris angrily turns around to tell him to stay out of it for once. Cecile urges him to do as she asks, but he keeps talking anyway. He tries to talk her out of it by telling her their love is eternal and she and Barry just need to talk, but Iris disagrees because she they already talked and they still disagreed. Cecile tells her the only way they will figure things out is if they do it together and that she won’t find her answers there. That sparks an idea in Iris’ head and she gets up to leave the house. Cecile feels something when she does and advises Ralph to go after her. She realizes Iris’ hurt but she’s more determined.

Gideon is telling Iris that the time-sphere is set on Nora’s temporal location and Iris makes sure that the tracker for the time-sphere has been disabled. Gideon tells her there are still alarms so she has to use it offsite. Ralph asks her if she’s planning a trip, but Iris tells him that she doesn’t have time and she won’t be stopped. Ralph asks her, “Who said anything about stopping?”

Nora is in position and is ready for Thawne to tell her what to do. He tells her to run and she zooms off. He talks her through it and tells her how she needs to think of the pain crushing her. She is no longer herself and she needs to think of how she is something different- part of a negative force. She almost opens the negative speed force, but it closes before she can get into it. She stops running and asks him why it didn’t work.

Iris and Ralph are getting the time-sphere and time-breach opened so that they can travel to the future. They get everything set and working and Ralph hops in the time-sphere just before it flies off into the breach.

Caitlin is telling Barry, Joe and Carla about what the atomizer can do. She tells them that it would be able to grind down atoms to where if combined with Icicle’s powers she could freeze Central City into an ice age. Caitlin thinks she can track the atomizer. She needs a device that she sends Barry to get, but Carla thinks another device would work better. This sparks the two into an argument. Barry stands confused and then decides on getting both. Joe senses a drop in the temperature and before they can run from the room Icicle enter to blast Carla and Caitlin into the wall. Joe pulls a gun, but Icicle starts to fire. Barry runs in front of him before he’s hit. They both pass out on the ground and Icicle walks over to where Caitlin and Carla lay.

Sherloque is packed to return home, but an alert about Barry’s suit causes him to stop. He gets to the lab to help Joe bring Barry back. Sherloque sends a shock through Barry’s suit, successfully bringing him back and they stop him from going after Icicle.

Caitlin and Carla are in another Tannhauser off-site. Carla tries to suggest a plan for them to get out, but Caitlin thinks Killer Frost is their best bet. They start to argue again, but then Caitlin asks how their relationship got to this point. She tells her mom that the distance has always been this way. She asks why her mother left her, but her Carla says that Caitlin left first. Icicle comes in and tells them that he wants what Caitlin could be. He gets a small blood sample from her and then leaves. He tells them, “See you soon, Snow Pack.” Carla realizes that is the same thing he used to call their family. They determine that with the sample of blood he just got he will be able to create a serum that will suppress their human sides. He wants an ice family.

Iris and Ralph are at the prison to see Nora and Thawne. Ralph goes to distract the guard. He shapeshifts into the guard and then tosses him in a cell of his own. Iris goes in alone to where Thawne is being held.

Nora’s yelling at Thawne because she doesn’t understand why his tips didn’t work for her. Thawne tells her she’s just like her father – she’s light. Iris walks in and asks Nora to step away from Thawne. Nora tries to convince Iris that it’s okay because he’s trying to help her get back home. Thawne tells Nora to listen to her mother. Nora asks for Barry, but Iris tells her that he’s not there and it is probably for the best. Iris doesn’t want Iris to see Nora with Thawne and Thawne agrees. Nora disagrees. Iris tells her that Barry was wrong but he still cares about her. Iris tries to talk her down, but Nora starts to get upset. She asks Iris if she knows what it’s like to want to be like her father and do nothing but try to make him happy. She yells when she asks Iris how Barry could leave her and stop loving her. Thawne and Iris try to get her to calm down, but her lightning starts to flash through her veins. She begins to run off in slow motion as Iris reaches out for her. As she races through the streets we see Nora’s lightning begin to turn red and we see flashes of past horrible memories she has since becoming a speedster.

Thawne tells Iris that Nora has gone to 2019. Iris realizes that when Nora said he was teaching her a way to get home that he was teaching her his way. He admits that he made a mistake and tells her that she needs to find Nora – she needs her family. Iris tells him that family doesn’t include him and he replies when she starts to walk out that it does include Barry. She turns around and walks back to stand in front of him. She tells him that he doesn’t get to comment on her family. Thawne tells her the only way he can help Nora is by doing it as a family, otherwise it’ll be like she’s leaving Barry the same way he left Nora. Ralph comes in telling her that they need to hurry before replies. She leaves Thawne with a hard expression on her face.

Carla asks Caitlin about how it feels to have another person inside her head. Caitlin tells her it’s family that brought Killer Frost back because she protected them. Caitlin tells her mom it was great what she did for them before Icicle comes back into the room. He wants to take Carla with him and blasts Caitlin with an ice block around her hand before she can grab her mom.

Barry’s frustrated because he can’t find Caitlin and her mom or Iris. He doesn’t know how to find fix anything. Sherloque offers them to look at temperature analogies to find Icicle. Barry quickly locates a spot.

Carla’s inside of a machine screaming to get let out, but Icicle tells her it’s time for her to meet her better half. He then turns the machine on. As he watches, Killer Frost comes out and blasts ice at him. The freezing of her cuffs helped her escape. He breaks the machine her mother is in and flies off. Flash comes in and Killer Frost tells him to save her mother while she chases after Icicle. She blasts off onto her own ice path. Barry tries to stop the machine but it freezes his hand.

Joe and Sherloque are reluctantly trying to figure out how to work the comms system when Iris and Ralph come in. Iris steps in when Barry tells them he needs help. Ralph tells him that he can make a lightning in his body will allow him to phase in and out without getting frozen in the process. He gets Carla out and starts to warm her up.

Icicle and Killer Frost are still creating ice paths throughout the air as they try to knock each other off. Killer Frost gets hit with one of his Icicles, turning her back to Caitlin. Before Icicle can stab her, he starts to turn back onto her father. The two embrace once he’s transformed.

Icicle and Caitlin go back into the lab area.  Thomas tells them that he fought his way through when he saw Icicle about to kill Caitlin. He thinks he may have vanished the monster, but suddenly Cicada 2.0 grasps Barry in the air. He tells them to run. Killer Frost tells Carla and Thomas to leave while she battles Cicada 2.0. She gets knocked down and when she gets up Cicada 2.0 throws her dagger at her. Thomas runs in front of it before it can hit her and gets stabbed in the back. Cicada 2.0 grabs the cryo-atomizer, summons her dagger and leaves. Thomas dies with Caitlin and Carla around him telling Caitlin that he’ll always love her.

Iris asks Barry how Caitlin and Carla are when Barry walks back into the cortex. Barry says they’ll be fine and Iris wonders why Cicada 2.0 was even there. Sherloque doesn’t think they were the real targets and Barry wonders what she’ll do with the atomizer. Joe tells them they should go home because they won’t figure it out tonight. He asks Iris if she’s coming back to the house with him, but she looks at Barry and says she’s going home because she thinks they need to talk. When they leave Joe asks about Ralph going to the future. Apparently, he saw John Stamos.

Caitlin tells her mom she’s clean and not a meta. Carla finds Caitlin and Thomas’ periodic table and they joke about it for a minute. Carla starts to leave, but Caitlin asks her out for drinks to talk. When they leave, the vial that was still green inside turns to ice inside of the hazardous waste bin.

Ralph asks Sherloque if he’s headed home. He says he is but Ralph points out all the good things he did. He tells Sherloque he did those things for his family.

Iris and Barry are sitting at their dining room table. She tells him that she just wanted her family back together even if she had to time travel. Barry tells her that he understands. Iris shares that he’s right about Nora being manipulated by Thawne, but she does believe that Nora is back in their time. Barry admits that he was wrong about leaving Nora and not talking to her about it first. They should have thought about it together because family doesn’t leave family. Iris admits to her mistake of going to the future because it was the same thing that she was upset with him about. She knows now that they can’t solve this if they don’t stick together. Barry makes a joke about not being able to do this without her because he can barely do it with her causing Iris to smile. The two share a light kiss. Barry says, “Let’s bring out kid home.” Iris tells him one last thing. She thinks Thawne may actually care about Nora because the look he had in his eyes when he spoke about her Iris has only seen that look in Barry’s eyes.

The street begins to shake and the street lights flicker out. Nora races in to a stop. Her eyes are glowing red.

We span over younger Grace’s machine as future Grace looks over saying, “Soon, Grace.” She looks over to the atomizer as she speaks.
