Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) Hmm. Maybe If U2 were a metal band in the future. [laughs]

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

A) There’s a lot, but probably Nirvana, Radiohead and Bob Marley.

Q) Tell us the story behind your latest single “Geronimo.”

A) A day or two before “Pop Punk Song (feat. Dead Bundy)” came out, I got a call that our roadie and friend of fifteen plus years had committed suicide. I was pretty torn up and didn’t know what to do. So, I wrote “Geronimo” and dedicated to Josh B, with proceeds going to mental health charities…

Q) You also created a music video for the song “Geronimo.” How did you come up with the concept for the video?

A) Well, I had written three or four different video treatments for the one and as a backup idea I had the loose concept for what eventually became THE video. The concept was that since the song was pretty serious it’d be a great juxtaposition to have a light-hearted video that made you laugh. Josh was the funniest guy in the whole crew, so we wanted to honor that legacy.

Q) The song also features members from the bands Just a Ride and Solcura. What was it like getting to work with them and how did their involvement influence the final cut of “Geronimo?”

A) It was such an honor. I’ve been a fan of both bands for a few years now. Naturally, I recorded in the US and the others in the UK, but it was still all done at relatively the same time. They brought the best out of the song and record, I think…

Q) Since its release, what has been the reaction to “Geronimo” from listeners?

A) The reception has been incredibly positive from the fans, which I’m so grateful for. There wasn’t a huge marketing budget to reach an entirely new audience, but it’s generated some hype and helped solidify The Frst as a pretty diverse modern rock act that’s here to stay.

Q) With the release of “Geronimo,” is there a full-length album in the works?

A) Absolutely! It’s just about done on our end, but still has to weave its way through the music industry pipeline like every other record… There’s no way around it, that just takes time. For example, most listeners don’t know that a song has to sit around at Spotify and Apple for at least a month if not more before being released. Business aside, I’m really excited about it. I wish I could say more about the sound, but it’s definitely different than anything we’ve done to date.

Q) What message do you hope fans take away from “Geronimo?”

A) I want people to know it’s ok to be yourself, and if that’s “weird”’ then so be it. It’s OK to not be OK. I think it’d be great to have more open and honest dialogue…Like tell me how you’re actually doing right now. It seems like the ones we lose are always the ones we least suspect.

Q) You’re set to go on tour this fall into 2023. What can fans look forward to with the upcoming tour?

A) Finally! [laughs] All the classics from Prelude, along with the new singles that have become staples for us. We’ll preview some new material that won’t be out until 2023, and I don’t know maybe have a little time to work in a banana hammock show or something…. [laughs]

Q) Which song is your favorite to perform live?

A) Mmmm, probably “Tarantino” or “This Is Me Now” at the moment. But “Pop Punk Song” is fun when the crowd goes crazy…you can’t help but smile.

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) Stop making our sh*tty songs so popular! [laughs] Jokes aside, thank you SO much for the love and support, and you are loved and understood here…Frst Family 4 Life!!
