While listening to music, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) thinks about when she was a little girl (Summer Fontana) and she saw her father Klaus (Joseph Morgan) killed a group of people.

Meanwhile, Klaus returns to the Mikaelson compound and greets Freya (Riley Voelkel), who he hasn’t seen in seven years. “The years have been good to you,” Klaus says.  Riley comments how sunblock and the love of a good woman has helped. But that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been problems. She tells Klaus what happened with Hayley.  When Klaus hears his daughter entering, he immediately exits before Hope comes in, fearful that the evil power of The Hollow inside him will hurt his child.

Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) raises a glass to toast the fallen Poppy, who was killed by the teen hybrid, Henry (Nicholas Alexander). Good speech but Poppy deserves revenge says another vampire named Greta (Nadine Lewington). Marcel reminds that New Orleans doesn’t go about dishing out revenge but deals in justice. After Greta leaves, Josh (Steven Krueger) tells Marcel that there are those in New Orleans who believe that he (Marcel) can’t be the king of vampires because he is a hybrid whose deadly bite is fatal to all vampires. Marcel gets a text and goes outside to meet Klaus. He reminds Klaus how unsafe it is for him (Klaus) to be there. But Klaus tells his foster son that Hayley is missing and he needs his help. Although Klaus and Marcel have had their differences in the past, both have always cared about Hayley’s well-being and if she in danger, Marcel wants to do what he can to help.

Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) says that he’ll miss Freya when she leaves New Orleans to be with Keelin (Christina Marie Moses) but is glad that she will have some happiness and get away from all the family drama that seems to follow the Mikaelsons.

Roman (Jedidiah Goodacre) visits Hope but reminds that because he is a vampire she has to invite him in. He questions her about what happened with Henry. Roman wants to know what Hope Marshall’s story is as there are rumors around magic school about her. Hope asks Roman to wait; she has somewhere she needs to be.

Meanwhile, Klaus questions Declan (Torrance Coombs) and asks whether Hayley has any enemies. “Enemies? She’s a single mom not a super villain,” Declan answers sarcastically. Declan comments that Klaus must be Hope’s father because he looks like her around the eyes. Declan says that he’s (Declan) been in Hope’s life for a long time and is currently teaching her how to drive. “Where were you?” Declan asks Klaus, angering Mikaelson. Klaus grabs Declan and is about to bite him when he suddenly gets tossed across the floor. “Seriously dad?” Hope asks annoyed. Klaus compels Declan so he doesn’t remember meeting him (Klaus) and has the man go off to the butcher. After Declan leaves, Klaus orders Hope to go home; he can hear whispers and know she can too because it’s not safe for them to be together. And if she disobeys him, Klaus will have Freya put a spell on Hope and bind her to the house.

Klaus and some of the vampires come to the bayou to get Henry. But Lisina (Alexis Louder) refuses to let Marcel take Henry.

Freya happily welcomes Keelin home. Vincent goes to see Ivy (Shiva Kalaiselvan), who can read the future.

Josh is able to get inside Lisina’s house because she invited him previously for another wolf’s birthday party. Standing in the doorway, Marcel tells Lisina that one of his rules is that he doesn’t hurt kids. But Henry has to be punished for killing Poppy.  The punishment will be that he is buried inside a wall for a few years so he can learn to control his wolf blood lust. And when he dries out, Henry will be one of Marcel’s guys. “And I always look after my guys,” Marcel promises Lisina. Seeing no other way to protect Henry from being murdered by a mob of angry vampires wanting revenge, Lisina agrees and invites Marcel in.

When Hope returns home, Roman questions her about all the weird stuff she has in her house. Hope admits that her real name is Hope Mikaelson, her mother is a wolf alpha and her father is Niklaus Mikaelson.

Marcel chains Henry up in Josh’s loft.  Before burying him alive, Marcel has some questions in which he needs answers. He wants to know why Henry was so certain that Hayley as the Crescent Alpha would protect him. And who is he protecting? Marcel realizes that Henry is protecting his (Henry) sire.

When she hears Klaus father coming, Hope tells Roman that he has to leave because her father will tear him apart. “Tell me it isn’t true, what have you done with your mother?!” Klaus demands.

At his reading, Ivy tells Vincent that the danger in New Orleans has nothing to do with Klaus but his daughter. Hope admits that she used Henry to do the heavy lifting but her mom is fine. “She’s sleeping in a coffin under a cloaking spell I wrote myself.” Freya is packing to go away with Keelin and they hear the father and daughter exchange. Keelin can’t believe that Hope did this, but Freya thinks that Hope is right on schedule with teen angst.

“The little girl I knew would never do something like this,” Klaus says. Hope says that was before the little girl read his memoirs which spoken of how he put his family in coffins for years when they didn’t do what he wanted. Klaus reads Hope’s thoughts and gets Hayley’s location.  But Hope has a few tricks as well and stops Klaus from leaving the room. Snakes appears from the fountain as the whispers continue.

Vincent is told that Hope Mikaelson will be their downfall. Josh basically says the same thing to Marcel.

Hope sadly tells Klaus how she had to listen while she was in school to all the story about the cruelness of Klaus Mikaelson. All Hope wanted was her father; what was she to believe that he was this terrible monster or the father who taught her how to mix paints and called her princess.

But Klaus says that fathers only seem to be good for one thing: causing pain. Either from being there or being absentee. Klaus thinks that Hope is better without him.

Marcel is sealing Henry up in a wall when Hope arrives. Hope apologizes to Henry for what’s happened. As she is his sire and he has to do what she says, Hope tells Henry that he’ll be calm and if he gets scared, he’ll sing. And when he gets out, they’ll be friends. Marcel says that was a nice thing for Hope to do. But Hope doesn’t think she’s a nice person; her family sacrificed everything for her and look at all the trouble she’s causing. Marcel assures that Hope is definitely worth it and if anyone disagrees, he’ll eat them. Marcel hugs Hope and tells her that the hug wasn’t for her, he needed it too.

Bringing Freya along as he may need a witch of her power to break Hope’s sleeping spell on Hayley, Klaus and Freya find the coffin bloody and destroyed and Hayley gone. He returns home and tells Hope what happened and how from the looks of things, a fight occurred. Klaus doesn’t blame his daughter as Hope did what she felt she had to in order to bring him back.  Klaus tells Hope that he spoke with Alaric and she’s to return to the magic school where she’ll be safe. Hope has a panic attack and begins coughing. A snack emerges from her throat. “You have to get out,” Hope tells Klaus. “I swear I’ll find your mother and bring her back to you,” Klaus promises before exiting.

Freya urges Keelin to go on her trip alone to see the world and save people through practicing medicine. Freya doesn’t want Keelin to give up her life for her (Freya). Keelin reminds that she’s been there for Freya throughout everything that Freya has gone through with her family because she loves her. “I can’t love you and my family at the same time. I don’t want you to stay,” Freya sadly tells Keelin.

Marcel gives a speech: “Daywalkers, nightwalkers, witches and wolves. I invited you here tonight from all corners to celebrate. Tonight, justice was served.  The hybrid Henry will suffer his punishment and when he emerges, the city of New Orleans will open its arms to him again. Henry is a symbol of the peace that we enjoy when we serve New Orleans first and ourselves second. Dance, drink, romance this city as she deserves. Tomorrow, we do it again.”

Henry sings to stay calm, but he sees someone when one of the bricks from his prison tomb is removed.

While Hope is in the town square with Roman, someone screams. Everyone rushes to the direction of the scream and find Henry’s desiccated corpse hanging from the tower with his heart ripped out. Who sought revenge on the tortured teen hybrid?
