At the Mikaelson mansion, we see Klaus being thrown against a wall.  But he doesn’t fight the person back who is tossing him around like a hybrid ragdoll. “All that pain, that simmering darkness you need to purge it before it eats you alive. Give me your anger Hope!” Klaus (Joseph Morgan) demands as his daughter Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) uses the dark magic of The Hollow to toss Klaus around the Mikaelson mansion. So, Klaus is uses himself as a punching bag of sorts to help his daughter work through the pain and anger she’s experiencing due to the dark magic. Hope explains that it’s not working because he’s not the one she wants to hurt.  “Give me a name,” Klaus says.

Roman (Jedidiah Goodacre) is getting bored as he’s held up in a room being guarded by vampires at the request of his sister Antoinette (Jaime Murray).  Suddenly, the guards are killed one by one. After the last one is dead, Klaus corners Roman. “Just get it over with,” Roman says in fear as he thinks that Klaus is there to kill him. Klaus twists the teen vampire’s neck.

Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) sits by a dead Ivy (Shiva Kalaiselvan) when suddenly one of the other dead wishes poisoned by Emmett (Robert Baker) rises.  Soon, Ivy too rises.  She asks Vincent what happened.  He tells her that she was poisoned by Emmett. “I thought I was dead,” Ivy says. “You are,” replies Vincent.

Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) has followed Emmett to his hide out and leave a voice mail message asking for Josh’s backup in case things get hairy.

Declan (Torrance Coombs) talks with Josh (Steven Krueger) about the large chunks of time that he seems to keep missing (Declan doesn’t know that he’s being compelled by vampies Elijah and Klaus). Declan worries that he’s going crazy like his Uncle Kieran and Cousin Sean, both clergy who killed themselves in the church. Declan is determined to get his hands on their journals, but Josh discourages against it. He says that with all the stress Declan’s been under lately he’s should concentrate on doing something fun. Josh meets a guy name Max and tells him about losing Aiden (Colin Woodell).

Meanwhile, Roman wakes up chained in the catacombs. Hope asks Klaus to leave. “I’d rather do this alone,” Hope says. Klaus explains to Roman that Hope has an infliction and his (Roman) pain will temporary cause her comfort. Roman begs Klaus not to leave him alone with Hope.

Elijah (Daniel Gillies) talks with Vincent about helping Hope. Vincent believes that Hope is beyond saving; she barely survived The Hollow’s influence when she was eight. Now that she is a young adult filled with anger. And wait until that anger causes her to make her first kill and her werewolf side is triggered. But Vincent has more to worry about than the youngest Mikaelson. Ivy and the other witches have awoken with vampire blood coursing through their veins. They will have to decide whether they want to accept being vampires and living forever.  Or ending it all. That’s Vincent only priority…not helping Hope.

Marcel is cornered by vampires. He fights well at first but then is over powered by Emmett, who then restrains him using enchanted chains.  He tells Marcel that he came to New Orleans because of the stories he heard about Marcel, the king of the vampires.  But Marcel wasn’t happy to just be a vampire, he had to turn himself into an abomination. Emmett has Marcel hooked to a device that extracts his venom. Emmett plans to use Marcel’s venom to take down the vampires that don’t follow his (Emmett) beliefs. He also wants to use the venom on Hope.

Elijah goes to see Antoinette who tells him that Klaus took Roman. Antoinette doesn’t think that Roman deserves to die because of her mother’s hatred. Antoinette begs Elijah to talk to Klaus.

Ivy tells Vincent that she was born a witch and will die one. She urges Vincent not to be sad because she’s seen the beauty of the ancestral home.

Hope tortures Roman with her powers. Roman apologizes for taking part in his mother’s plot and kidnapping Hayley.

Elijah confronts Klaus about his definition of parenting by allowing Hope to torture Roman. “She was supposed to be better than us NiKlaus,” Elijah reminds. But Klaus has no problem with Hope working out her anger and pain and following in her father’s footsteps by vanishing her enemies. “I’m sorry I have to ask, much as I enjoy your wavering judgement you really have Hope’s best interest at heart?” “What are you accusing me of?” Elijah demands. Klaus says that if Elijah cares so much about Antoinette he should go to her as he (Klaus) has his own family to worry about. Elijah questions Klaus about whether he’ll ever forgive him.  Klaus says that although they may live forever, their allegiance isn’t. Next, Elijah calls Antoinette. Although he couldn’t convince Klaus to let Roman go, he does have an idea that will help all of them. Antoinette is skeptical about what Elijah is asking her to do.

Hope tells her father that she can’t kill Roman. Klaus says that she has to rid herself of the darkness that’s inside of her. When Elijah returns, Klaus again berates his brother for sleeping with the enemy. Elijah says he has a plan.

Vincent uses a spell to show Ivy where she will end up and it’s not some peace place of the ancestors. But Ivy says that she was born a witch and will die a witch.  She’d rather spend eternity in the ancestral well then live life as a vampire.

Josh comes to save Marcel. But while they are fighting Emmett’s minion vampires, Josh manages to get stuck with the venom needle. As the poison makes its way into Josh’s heart not giving Marcel enough time to get the cure, Josh and Marcel talk about the day they first met. Josh tells Marcel that he is his family.  Then, Josh dies.

Declan doesn’t take Josh’s advice to let the past stay buried and is curious about the events leading to Sean and Kieran’s suicides. He is with a priest named Bill (Jimmy Ray Pickens) in the church looking for Kieran and Sean’s journals.

While Vincent gathers the witch community and tells them they need to release the ancestral well and let all of their dead live again so that the power they draw from the Earth will strengthen them, Elijah and Antoinette are meeting with Emmett and his followers. Elijah says that all of them there believe that the vampire race is the only true species and for everyone who served Greta and kept her message alive after her death will meet her same fate. Hope, Klaus and Marcel enter. “I’m going to enjoy this,” Marcel says. “You betrayed us!” Emmett shouts. Elijah reminds that he was just telling them Greta’s message and what they wanted to hear, he never said that he agreed with it. Elijah and Antoinette leave. “Let it all out sweetheart,” Klaus tells his daughter. Hope gives a primal yell and releases all her power, killing Emmett and his vampire minions. Afterwards, she asks her father whether the black lines and whispers will return.  “I don’t know,” Klaus answers. Klaus tells Marcel he and Josh need to gather some vampires to clean up the mess. From the look on Marcel’s face, Klaus knows that something is wrong. “I’ll tell you later,” Marcel says before he leaves, not telling Klaus that Josh is dead. When Hope and Klaus go in a backroom of the church, they find Declan bloody and unconscious. Klaus tells Hope that he will take care of it.

Elijah and Antoinette say their goodbyes. Antoinette is going to Shanghai.  She tells Elijah that she hopes they will meet again.

Before Ivy dies, she sees her father and the beauty of the witches’ ancestral home.

Marcel drinks a toast to Josh, honoring his friend and wishing for Josh to rest in peace.  We see Josh on a road when a car stops.  Aiden is driving.  He tells Josh that he’s missed him. So, Josh got his happily ever after as he is reunited with Aiden in the afterlife.

Roman comes to see Hope. “The thing about an apology is that it doesn’t mean anything when your life is on the line,” Roman says. Hope cries that she isn’t so different then Roman.  But Roman assures that she is nothing like him. “You’re good Hope.  You are and you don’t deserve any of this. I just wish I could fix this,” Roman tells Hope assuring her that everything is going to be okay.

Declan regains consciousness. “You pick the wrong day to find religion,” Klaus tells him. “Where’s Bill?” Declan asks. Klaus finds Bill dead underneath a pile of rubble. Then, Hope experience a terrible pain. We see that her eyes are yellow. Hope’s werewolf curse has been triggered!
