Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is a fusion of several genres, but the one feeling that doesn’t change no matter the musical stylings are authenticity and vulnerability. When speaking of genres, being Nigeran American you will definitely hear the sounds of the afro diaspora infused into certain tracks, mixed with Pop styled R&B, Gospel and Hip/Hop-Soul.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Sade, Beyonce, Adele, Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige, PJ Morton, Tamala Mann and Mariah Carey

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “I’m Winning.”

A) As a narcissistic abuse survivor and bullying survivor, “I’m Winning is’ about being a spiritual warfare warrior and master healer… never giving up, forgiving others, healing my trauma, sharing my story, and focusing on my goals. The ability to heal and keep going be matter how many times you get sabotaged or rejected, is a win in my books. The song is to motivate and inspire others to keep going, don’t stop, because you are a winner!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think everyone has had something that was very difficult to bounce back from and they had no idea how they would ever get through. Also, those that are bullied and ostracized

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) We do not have a video to the track as of yet. Once we pass 50,000 streams, we will be allowed to shoot a music video for the “I’m Winning” single.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Yes, I need music to write to. My process is that once my spirit resonates with a beat/music composition, then I come up with the melody and write hooks. I also have a worldwide writing team that supports and tweaks my lyrics to make sure I am conveying what I am intending through my music.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) It depends on the song. Some I build side by side with a producer and other times producers send me tracks and let me pick which ones I vibe with.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes, the No Looking Back album release is June 15, 2022

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love to perform anywhere with good energy. It could be a porch, small lounge or large stage. I have performed in Texas and will be performing in the UK this summer.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love, love, love to work with PJ Morton (the instant vintage sound of his music and the beautiful authentic and unique lyrics and vocals), Miley Cyrus (it’s her vocal tone for me) and Taylor Swift for her ability to write creatively original and commercially palatable tunes that empower growth, change, and healing.

Q) You are also a therapist and mental health advocate. What advice would you offer those still struggling with their mental health during the on-going pandemic?

A) My Mental Health Story:

My mental health got extremely bad in my last marriage. Being in a narcissistic abusive relationship with someone that exhibits BPD traits is deadly for the victim. Before that marriage I had never taken mental health medications to function but coming out of that relationship I have had to take anti-depressants and ADHD meds daily just to function day to day. Brain fog, difficulty staying on task, and short-term memory loss are the side effects of prolonged Narcissistic Abuse. Although never suicidal, my basic functioning and energy levels changed from day to day (pre marriage to post marriage are two totally different people).

Take Away Points:

Be careful who you let into your life.

Put yourself first when no one else will.

Help others but be sure to nurture yourself as well.

Don’t allow abuse and neglect to become common place in your life. Stand up for yourself and your basic human rights.

Don’t be afraid to reach out and get some help from a professional.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It is important to stay connect and help raise their energy levels and inspire them to raise their consciousness and heal areas in their lives that they have hidden away and thrown away the key so they can really and truly live with inner peace, self-acceptance, self-love and home in on their passions.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) This music journey that I’m on is all about spiritual warfare and healing…not just healing for myself…but learning and gaining insight along the way that has transformed me into the poised woman of God I am today, that has taken all the various rounds of narcissistic abuse from childhood, to school age, to workplace, to community and even church, and used my experiences to help others heal and express their pain and share their stories in healthy and safe ways.

Purpose and Passion behind the mission:

Black women are the most devalued, disrespected and neglected beings on this planet. Before I leave this Earth, my goal is to elevate souls that have been murdered, resurrect the dreamer in the abused and rejected, and replace the voice in their head that says, “it’s over,” with one that says, “keep going…don’t stop…YOU ARE A WINNER…”

My desire before I leave this Earth is for people will be increasingly more aware of their actions (covert or overt), how they treat others and how they talk to and treat themselves. I hope that people take a black women’s tears, pain, dedication, diligence, passion and tenacity more seriously, and respect their lives, and stories…instead of slapping generalized negative stereotypes on them and dismissing them as if they don’t matter. Before I leave this Earth…
