Q) What are the recent projects are you working on outside of “Knightfall?”

A) I have just completed a film starring alongside Imogen Poots and Neve Campbell. I play an absolute maniac, heroin addict who is out for revenge. I had a lot of fun scaring the crap out of Imogen. I also wrote and directed a film which is coming out later this year called Pink Wall starring Tatiana Maslany and Jay Duplass. That project has been my main focus for the past year and a half. It’s a relationship drama that spans six years. We just premiered it at SXSW in March to an overwhelming reception. I can’t wait to get it out there for everyone to see.

Q) What made you initially want to be a part of HISTORY’s series “Knightfall?”

A) What first attracted me to “Knightfall” was the role itself. They hadn’t written Landry like a traditional hero who constantly makes the right choices, which I think can be boring. Landry isn’t perfect and I liked the challenge of that. We watch as he tries to become a better man.

Also, the fact that I get to run around, riding horses and swinging swords was my boyhood dream.

Q) What continues to challenge you about your portrayal of Landry?

A) Other than getting the absolute crap tonked out of me every day, I think the emotional journey he goes on is challenging. He doesn’t get a lot of chances to have a laugh with his mates, does old Landry?

Q) What kind of research did you do on the Knights Templar to prep for the role?

A) I only lived on oats for a year. I gave up all my worldly possessions. Never washed. And I haven’t had any relations with a woman in nearly three years. It’s been tough, but I now feel like I really understand the life of a Templar.

Q) If you did, what were you surprised to learn about them?

A) I was surprised to learn what absolutely mad bastards they were. They lived the life of monks, created the first ever banking system but were also absolutely hard as nails. They were like the Special Forces combined with Goldman Sachs. It was absolutely incredible and I can’t imagine living how they did.

Q) Season 2 finds Landry attempting to make amends for breaking his Templar vows. Can he truly steel his heart into letting go of Queen Joan?

A) I don’t think it’s about letting go of Queen Joan (Olivia Ross), but instead getting back in touch with God.

Q) Iconic actor Mark Hamill joined the cast this season. How does this new addition effect the Templars?

A) He basically bullies everyone any chance he can get. My favorite Talus scene was when he stuck his fingers down [one of the initiates] Kelton’s throat and made him puke up his food. What a guy…

Q) What are some memorable moments from this season you are looking forward to fans getting to see?

A) The battles are absolutely epic this season. My favorite fight takes place in a burning church. Bit of an oxymoron but I can’t wait for fans to see it…

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive to episodes?

A) It’s great to be able to interact with fans. Honestly, it’s why you spend 6 months working your ass off. It’s for people to watch and enjoy. It’s always about the fans first.

Q) Is there anything else you want fans to know about this season of “Knightfall?”

A) I think this season is bloody great. Awesome acting. Great storylines. Epic battles and more. It’s dope and a lot of fun to watch. I hope fans are enjoying it as much as I am.

Q) You often take on dramatic roles. What draws you to this genre?

A) I was born without a sense of humor.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Hi Mum!
