All of your favorite shows have mostly returned from Winter hiatus so I’ll be starting the new year by picking the best drama, comedy, and sci-fi/fantasy moments each week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments, so keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!

Drama: Grey’s Anatomy, “The Winner Takes All” – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.

Early in the episode Catherine (Debbie Allen) tells Jackson (Jesse Williams) how she got over the fear of doing her first surgery. To this day, she still sings “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Diana Ross in her head to get through whatever scares her. Before she goes into surgery, Jackson plays the song to get her through a scary time and the entire OR dances with her. It’s a joyous moment to watch. Catherine has been a force of a character and it definitely helps that she’s played by the incomparable Debbie Allen. I really enjoyed this scene because even though I had a some fear that their might be some severe complications after surgery, it helped ease my mind that she was going to be alright. Plus, I love a good mother and child moment and this was a precious one.

Comedy: Fam – “Jolene, Jolene…”– Shannon decides to stay.

Kate Walsh cameoed in this week’s episode of Fam as Shannon’s (Odessa Adlon) and Clem’s mom Jolene. After living it up for a weekend with Jolene, it seems Shannon was convinced that she needed to stay with sister Clem (Nina Dobrev) and Nick (Tone Bell). Even though she loved the freedom, I think Shannon likes actually being watched and treated like the teen she is. It’s only been a little while since Shannon moved in with Clem, but she’s already making small positive changes.

Sci-fi/Fantasy: The Flash, “Memorabilia” – Nora finally gives Iris what she needed.

After seeing Nora’s (Jessica Parker Kennedy) real memories, Iris (Candice Patton) realized that she wasn’t the bad mother she thought she would turn out to be. When Nora finally gives Iris a genuine and sincere apology about her actions, both past and present towards her, Iris visibly lets out a deep breath. I loved this moment so much because of the choice taken by the actress. This moment was so huge for the relationship between these characters. Having it when Iris is officially taking steps towards creating the Central City Citizen is exactly what she needed to let her know that the future is going to be more promising than she thought. Candice Patton conveyed this moment perfectly and I felt all of the relief that came from Iris. I know Nora’s destined to hurt her parents in the near future, but seeing Iris take that breather and have that moment with her daughter was beautiful to watch.
