Top 3 TV Moments – November 29 – December 4

Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!

Drama: Selena: The Series, “And the Winner Is…” – I want to be a drummer too.

The Selena series was definitely not what I was expecting, but it did have one moment that stood out to me. In episode 3 we see a young girl arguing throughout the episode with her mom to go see Selena play at a local performance. Once her dad gives her the go ahead to attend, we see this really sweet moment between her and Suzette Quintanilla (Noemi Gonzalez). The girl tells the drummer that she wants to be like her and that she had never seen a female drummer before her. This moment helped Suzette realize how important her role as a drummer was even though she didn’t initially want to be in that position.

Comedy/Reality TV: Big Mouth, “A Very Special 9/11 Episode” – Code Switch

Before Missy Foreman-Greenwald (Jenny Slate) visits her family with DeVon (Jak Knight) he shows her his code switch and it opens up a whole conversation for her about how she talks around different groups of people. Every black person knows what it is like to have to code switch and seeing this play out as DeVon uses it around her family was interesting to watch. He even set it around black people because using a certain tone around every group is always different to some. I like that they delved into that a little bit on this show.

Sci-fi/Fantasy: Moonbase 8, “Visitors” – We are better than you.

Cap (John C. Reilly), Rook (Tim Heidecker) and Skip (Fred Armisen) encounter some visitors and quickly realize how behind in technology they are at their own base. For the most part, this episode didn’t have much going for it, but I liked the short little rivalry and “We’re better than you” moment that happened at the table. Conversations about Christianity were brought up and general talks about how they definitely should not be eating dehydrated food while on their base.
