The show opens with Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) going to the school where Titus works to have lunch. He isn’t there, but she sees one of his students has the backpack she lost in the pilot episode. The two trade and go on their merry way. Kimmy is excited to have adventures with her backpack, which talks to her.

At home, Titus (Tituss Burgess) is upset because he can’t come up with any ideas for his show “The Capist.” Kimmy offers to help, which Titus says is no surprise.

Lillian (Carol Kane) tells them to pipe down while she waits for the Trivago guy to come on TV. However, she sees Artie’s daughter Sheba (Busy Philipps) on the news, looking for her missing father. Apparently, Lillian forgot to tell them he was dead, just like she never told Kimmy about 9/11.

Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) wants to talk to someone from Kotex about her idea for male dryness pads. She also fires out other orders to her new assistant Mimi Kanasis (Amy Sederis), who tries to keep up in true Mimi fashion.

As she works, Xanthippe (Dylan Gelula) comes in needing Jacqueline’s help. She is pregnant.

Lillian goes to visit Sheba to give her a piece of her father—in the cocaine she hid him in. Sheba is upset and confused. She planned the funeral service for Artie and reluctantly gives Lillian an invite because she was special to her father. Lillian quips she was because the last time they made love he said her name.

Titus and Kimmy work on “The Capist.” He only has the intro done (a spoof of the Batman theme with Dick Wolf’s name) so Kimmy tells him they will go on an adventure with her backpack. (Cue flashbacks of her former adventures.)

Jacqueline and Xan talk about what to do with the baby. Jacqueline offers to take her to the doctor and comforts her when she says her baby daddy Cap Tylenol denied it was his and called her a slut.

Kimmy and Titus watch people play Quiddich in the park while looking for inspiration. Kimmy realizes if a book can make people still be into games, she can write a book that can help boys and girls treat each other with respect. She pitches the idea, but the Random House agent wants her to write about her life in the bunker. Kimmy doesn’t want to and storms out.

Lillian goes to the funeral for Artie only to realize Sheba gave her the wrong time. She calls her out on it, but Sheba gives her a sob story about her life and her plans for the future. Lillian isn’t buying it and decides to expose Sheba’s plans.

Titus is still struggling to write “The Capist” when Kimmy comes home with her rejected book. Titus decides to use it for his show pitch, despite thinking it’s bad.

Kimmy thinks she needs to get rid of things that are holding her back, including her Hello Kitty sheets and days of the week undies.

Jacqueline is present at the meeting for “The Capist,” but is distracted by Xan.  When Titus begins his intro, it inspires her go be with Xan at the doctor. It turns out Xan is not pregnant and really took a test from a joke shop. Her actual condition is stress related.

Lillian poses as a maid for the will reading. Sheba calls her a gold digger, but Lillian outsmarts her by exposing her as a shoplifter with a Mike Tyson face tattoo who is under house arrest.  Sheba’s brother (Josh Cooke) decides that if Sheba wants to waste her life, he will let her. She cheers and decides to clone dogs.

Titus pitches his idea for “The Capist,” but the network isn’t impressed. However, they offer him an acting job on Katherine Heigl’s new show.

Jacqueline meets Cap Tylenol (Lance Chantiles-Wertz) and forces him to tell the truth about what happened with him and Xan, who dumps him. Jacqueline and Xan start trashing his place right in front of his friends.

At the end of the will reading it is revealed that Lillian is in charge of Sheba’s trust, which causes the women to fight.

Kimmy and her backpack go on one more adventure before she lets it go. She starts to put rocks in the bag and is about to throw it in the river when the producer’s son from “The Capist” pitch calls Kimmy to say he loved the book idea and wants to know what happens next. When Kimmy tells him what is in store, he offers her the chance to make her own series. Overjoyed, Kimmy decides to keep her backpack.

The show ends with everyone working on their dreams and eating cake—while someone mysteriously takes pictures.
